Cyber Security Intern

Cyber Security Intern Job Type: Internship (Full-time / Part-time) Location: [In-person] Duration: [3–6 months ] Job Summary We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Cyber Security Intern to join our IT Security team. This internship provides hands-on experience in monitoring, detecting, and responding to security threats while supporting ongoing cybersecurity initiatives. The ideal candidate is eager to learn, analytical, and passionate about information security. Key Responsibilities • Assist in monitoring security systems, alerts, and logs (SIEM tools, firewalls, antivirus systems). • Support vulnerability assessments and penetration testing activities. • Help investigate security incidents and document findings. • Participate in risk assessments and security audits. • Assist in implementing security controls and best practices. • Support compliance initiatives (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST, SOC 2). • Conduct research on emerging threats and cybersecurity trends. • Help develop security awareness materials and training content. Required Qualifications • Currently pursuing a degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field. • Basic understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls). • Familiarity with operating systems (Windows, Linux). • Knowledge of common security concepts (malware, phishing, encryption, VPNs). • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. • Good written and verbal communication skills. Preferred Qualifications • Hands-on experience with security tools (Wireshark, Splunk, Nessus, etc.). • Basic scripting knowledge (Python, PowerShell, or Bash). • Understanding of frameworks such as NIST or CIS Controls. • Relevant coursework or certifications (Security+, CEH – optional).
