Department: SCAN & Medical Records Department
Reports To : MRD In-Charge/Director
Location: Chennai Branch: Purasavakam
Job Summary: The Typist in the SCAN/MRD Department is responsible for accurately preparing, typing, scanning, and managing hospital medical documents and summaries. This role supports the Medical Records Department by ensuring timely and precise transcription of reports, maintaining electronic and physical records, coordinating with clinical staff, and upholding strict confidentiality standards.
Key Responsibility:
1. Document Typing & Transcription:
• Type and prepare medical records, including case summaries, discharge summaries, scan reports (MRI, CT, USG, X-ray), and other clinical documentation.
• Transcribe dictated medical notes and reports accurately using audio recordings or handwritten notes.
• Ensure correct spelling, grammar, and medical terminology.
2. Scanning & Record Management:
• Scan physical medical documents and upload them into the hospital’s Electronic Medical Record (EMR) or document management system.
• Organize and maintain both digital and hard-copy files for easy retrieval.
• Label, index, and file documents according to MRD policies and quality standards.
3. Quality & Accuracy:
• Proofread and format all typed documents to meet hospital standards.
• Verify completeness and clarity of information before finalizing reports.
4. Coordination & Communication:
• Liaise with doctors, radiologists, nurses, and administrative staff to clarify dictations, correct errors, or obtain missing details.
• Respond to internal requests for document updates or copies.
5. Confidentiality & Compliance:
• Handle sensitive patient information with strict confidentiality and in compliance with hospital policies and applicable privacy regulations.
• Maintain secure storage and controlled access to protected health information (PHI).
6. Support MRD Operations:
• Assist with daily data entry, indexing, filing, retrieval of medical records, and MRD-related tasks.
• Help in preparing departmental logs, work reports, and records summaries when required.
7. Other Duties:
• Perform any related administrative or clerical duties as assigned by supervisors to support efficient department functioning.
Qualification:
· Diploma or bachelor's degree in Medical Imaging Technology, Radiography.
· high-speed and accurate typing skills (typically 40–50+ wpm).
Experience:
1. Overall: 3 years of experience working in hospital MRD, scanning, summary typing, or similar administrative roles.
2. Relevant: Freshers can also apply.
3. Age: 22 to 24 years.
4. Experience with Electronic Health Records.

1. Communication: Clear communication to interact with doctors, nurses, and administrative teams and to clarify ambiguous dictations or entries.

Technical Skills:
1. Typing in Proficiency: High typing speed with strong accuracy for transcribing medical reports, summaries, and records.
2. Computer Literacy: Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and hospital documentation systems.
3. Electronic Health Record (EHR) / EMR Systems.
4. Medical Terminology Knowledge: Understanding of clinical terms, abbreviations, and procedures to ensure accurate transcription.
5. Document Formatting & Quality: Skill in formatting and proofreading documents to meet hospital and departmental standards.
6. Record Management: Organizing, indexing, and maintaining both digital and physical records for quick retrieval and future reference.
