Node.js Backend Engineer/5+ Yrs/Remote

Job Descriptions Candidate will take ownership of the backend direction of a real-time slot gaming platform. Responsibilities include: • Driving the overall backend technical strategy and defining engineering standards and best practices. • Architecting and implementing scalable, high-performance real-time game mechanics on top of an existing platform game server (PGS). • Designing and optimizing backend infrastructure, including database schemas, caching layers, and messaging flows. • Scaling a high-load gameplay engine to support increasing platform demand. • Collaborating closely with Game Logic engineers, Frontend developers, and DevOps teams to ensure system consistency and performance. • Leading technical decision-making processes and guiding architectural evolution as the platform expands. Must-haves: • Minimum 5 years of professional backend development experience. • Strong expertise in Node.js and TypeScript for building scalable server-side applications. • Hands-on experience with modern backend frameworks such as Fastify or Nest.js. • Advanced knowledge of relational and non-relational databases, specifically PostgreSQL and MongoDB, including schema design and performance optimization. • Proven experience with Redis for caching strategies and performance tuning. • Practical experience with message brokers such as RabbitMQ or Kafka for asynchronous communication. • Deep understanding of distributed systems and microservices architecture. • Experience implementing real-time communication protocols such as WebSockets or Socket.io. • Strong knowledge of event-driven design patterns and asynchronous processing flows. • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git-based workflows, and automated testing using Jest. • Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools such as Grafana, Loki, or Tempo. Nice-to-haves: • Experience with PHP and Laravel. • Familiarity with AWS cloud services, Docker containerization, and Kubernetes orchestration. • Knowledge of RNG (Random Number Generation) concepts and integrations with iGaming platforms.
