Job Purpose
The position is within the Energy & Infrastructure Vertical at ASSOCHAM, playing a pivotal role in advancing division’s advocacy and industry engagement agenda. The incumbent will lead high-impact policy advocacy and drive sector-focused initiatives spanning Energy, Power, Renewable Energy, Green Hydrogen, Transmission, Highways & Tunnelling, and Civil Aviation. This role will act as a catalyst for transformative government initiatives, working closely with policymakers, industry leaders, and key stakeholders to address critical sectoral challenges and unlock opportunities for sustainable and inclusive growth. In addition, the role carries a strong mandate for expanding industry membership, deepening stakeholder engagement, and driving revenue growth through innovative programs, conferences, partnerships, and strategic projects.
Key Responsibilities - Energy & Infrastructure Division
1. Revenue Strategy & Business Development
• Formulate and execute strategies to drive revenue generation through sponsorships, knowledge partnerships, consulting-led projects, and membership expansion.
• Contribute to annual revenue targets, budgeting, and long-term financial sustainability of the Division.
2. Policy Advocacy & Government Engagement
• Act as a strategic interface between industry stakeholders and key government ministries, regulators, and public agencies including:
• Ministry of Power (MoP)
• Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE)
• Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH)
• Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA)
• Central Electricity Authority (CEA)
• Central Electricity Regulatory Authority (CERC)
• National Highways Authority of India (NHAI)
• National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL)
• Border Roads Organisation (BRO)
• Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA)
• Airports Authority of India (AAI)
• Airports Authority of India (AAI)
• Engage in structured consultations, policy dialogues, and regulatory discussions to articulate industry concerns and recommend reforms.
3. Policy Research & Representation
• Draft and submit policy representations, industry position papers, consultation responses, and advocacy notes.
• Develop evidence-based recommendations addressing power sector reforms, renewable integration, transmission bottlenecks, regulatory barriers
• Compile policy compendiums and regulatory trackers for members.
4. Sectoral Project Leadership
• Conceptualize and lead high-impact projects across Energy, Power, Infrastructure, including:
• Renewable Energy (RE)
• Power (Thermal, Hydro, Pumped Storage Projects – PSP)
• Green Hydrogen
• Highways, Bridges & Tunnelling
• Civil Aviation
• Collaborate with consulting firms, research institutions, and knowledge partners for joint studies, whitepapers, and implementation roadmaps.
5. Industry Forums & Thought Leadership
• Facilitate roundtables, advisory committees, and working groups on priority issues such as energy transition, grid modernization, infrastructure investment, indigenization, and innovation.
• Develop research reports, surveys, case studies, and flagship knowledge publications.
6. Events & Flagship Platforms
• Conceptualize and execute conferences, summits, CEO roundtables, and sectoral seminars
• Secure sponsorships and strategic partnerships to enhance visibility and financial viability.
7. Representation & Strategic Networking
• Represent the Chamber at Government forums, policy consultations.
• Build and maintain strong networks with corporates, PSUs, regulators and policy makers
8. Membership Growth & Engagement
• Drive membership acquisition by onboarding new companies into sectoral councils.
• Strengthen engagement with existing members through targeted programs, policy updates, and leadership interactions.
• Develop sector-specific councils and task forces to enhance member value.
9. Strategic Planning & Governance
• Contribute to annual business plans, division budgets, and long-term growth strategies.
• Monitor KPIs related to revenue, policy impact, membership expansion, and event performance.
• Ensure alignment of Division initiatives with national priorities
Education and Experience
• B.Tech/B.Engg graduate or MBA in Marketing/Strategy/Power Management preferred.
• Equivalent qualifications in Economics, Policy, or Infrastructure Management may be considered.
• 10–12 years of experience in policy advocacy, consulting, or research-driven organizations.
• Strong exposure to energy (power, renewable, hydro/PSP, green hydrogen, transmission, distribution)/ infrastructure (Civil Aviation, Highways & Tunnelling).
• Proven track record in policy advocacy, project leadership, event management, and revenue generation.
• Proven trach record of working with Government bodies, industry associations and industry.
