Technical SEO & Website Performance Specialist (Contract to hire)

Role Description We are looking for a hands-on Technical SEO & Website Performance Specialist who can own SEO strategy, with directly implementing improvements in code (would be good to have skill) Our MVP is live, and we now need someone who can elevate the platform’s technical health, improve search visibility, and optimise site performance without requiring heavy engineering support. This is a high-impact role for a self-starter who is equally comfortable in SEO tools and in a modern JavaScript codebase. This is a contract-to-hire remote role for a Technical SEO & Website Performance Specialist. The person in this role will be responsible for optimizing website performance and technical SEO strategies, performing audits to identify issues, improving load times, and ensuring compliance with SEO best practices. Key day-to-day tasks will include reporting on website analytics, implementing solutions to enhance search engine rankings, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet performance objectives. What you will own? • Conduct a full technical SEO and performance audit of the existing site • Improve Core Web Vitals (LCP, CLS, INP) and overall site speed • Identify and fix indexing, crawlability, and site structure issues • Implement on-page SEO best practices across key pages • Add and optimize structured data (schema) • Build and execute an early-stage keyword and organic growth roadmap • Optimize internal linking and site architecture • Work directly in our Next.js/React codebase to implement performance and SEO fixes • Set up and monitor Google Search Console, GA4, and tracking dashboards • Continuously monitor rankings, impressions, and technical health Must have requirements? • 4–6+ years in Technical SEO and website performance optimization • Proven track record improving organic visibility and Core Web Vitals • Strong hands-on experience with Next.js / React SEO implementation • Deep understanding of indexing, crawlability, and technical audits • Experience implementing schema and metadata at scale • Comfortable making code-level updates (JavaScript/TypeScript) • Strong ownership mindset and ability to work autonomously • Experience working in early-stage or fast-moving environments Nice to have • Experience with D2C, beauty, health, or personalisation platforms • Familiarity with Supabase or modern JAMstack architectures • Experience with programmatic SEO • Exposure to AI-driven or dynamic websites • Basic content SEO strategy experience Who this role is perfect for? • Technical SEOs who like to build, not just audit • Operators who enjoy zero-to-one growth environments • Specialists who can move between SEO strategy and code implementation • Self-starters who thrive with ownership and autonomy
