Role Overview: We’re looking for a Senior Backend Engineer who can architect, build, and scale critical backend systems. You’ll work on high-throughput financial workflows, third-party integrations, and transaction-heavy systems - potentially including crypto/blockchain rails as we expand. This is not a “ticket-closing” role. This is a systems-thinking, architecture-owning role. What You’ll Do • Design and own scalable backend architecture • Build high-performance APIs handling real-money transactions • Lead system design discussions and technical decisions • Architect reliable integrations with financial institutions, brokers, payment partners, and crypto/blockchain providers • Improve system resilience, observability, and fault tolerance • Optimize databases and reduce latency across services • Establish engineering best practices and mentor junior engineers • Handle production incidents and drive long-term fixes Tech Stack • Our backend is primarily built on Node.js, with Python used for select services. • We use Express.js and FastAPI to build scalable APIs. • Our data layer runs on PostgreSQL and MongoDB, with Redis used for caching and performance optimization. • We leverage Kafka and RabbitMQ for asynchronous and event-driven workflows. • Our infrastructure is hosted on AWS, with Docker and CI/CD pipelines enabling smooth deployments. • We design and maintain REST APIs and Webhooks for integrations. • Infrastructure: AWS / GCP (EC2, RDS, S3, Lambda, IAM, VPC and equivalent) • Containerization & CI/CD: Docker, automated pipelines • API Standards: REST, Webhooks, async callbacks • Security: OAuth2, JWT, encryption at rest and in transit Requirements What We’re Looking For • 6–8 years of strong backend engineering experience with 2+ years leading architecture or owning critical systems • Deep understanding of distributed systems and system design • Experience building high-transaction, low-latency systems • Strong experience with database optimization and scaling • Production experience with AWS and google cloud infrastructure • Experience in crypto / blockchain / digital assets infrastructure is highly preferred Domain Knowledge (Highly Preferred) • Crypto / blockchain infrastructure • Wallet architecture (custodial or non-custodial) • On-chain vs off-chain transaction workflows • Stablecoins, token transfers, gas mechanics • Banking rails (ACH, SWIFT, RTGS, SEPA) • Understanding of compliance-sensitive systems (KYC/AML flows) Leadership & Ownership • Strong technical decision-making skills • Ability to balance speed vs. system safety • Comfortable operating in high-accountability environments • Clear communicator with product and business stakeholders Benefits Why Borderless? • A Global Impact: You’ll help people across Asia, the Middle East, and India unlock global investing opportunities. • A Supportive Team: Work with smart, passionate colleagues who are as committed to your growth as you are to theirs. • Exciting Growth: Be part of an innovative platform that’s changing how people invest globally - every day brings new opportunities! • A Fun Environment: Work hard, play hard, and enjoy the dynamic culture of a startup that’s pushing the boundaries in fintech!
