Location: Dehradun Type: Full-time Experience Level: 5+ years (Lead/Principal) Compensation: ₹4,00,000 – ₹12,00,000 per annum About CodeYogi Foundation CodeYogi Foundation is democratizing access to technology careers for millions of underserved students across India. We're building a mobile-first coding education platform with an AI tutor that works on any smartphone - because 90% of students in tier-2/3 cities only have phones, not laptops. Our mission is to enable students from rural areas, government schools, and low-income families to learn programming, build real projects, and access high-quality tech careers - regardless of their economic background or location. We're a Section 8 company (non-profit) driven by impact, not profit. Every decision we make is guided by one question: "Does this serve our students better? But here's the challenge: Our story isn't being told. We have incredible student impact, a unique approach, and a powerful mission. What we need is someone who can translate this mission into words that move people - students who need us, funders who can support us, partners who can amplify us, and team members who want to join us. The Role We're looking for a Content Strategist & Narrative Lead who will be the architect of CodeYogi's story. You'll define how we tell our narrative, create the content that brings it to life, and build the strategic foundation for all our communication. This isn't just a writing role - it's a leadership role. You'll own the narrative, strategy, and content that shapes how the world sees CodeYogi. You'll start by establishing brand clarity - defining our voice, messaging framework, and core narratives. Then you'll create the content that brings those narratives to life: blog posts for students, proposals for funders, social posts for the world, impact reports for stakeholders. This is a build-from-scratch opportunity. You won't inherit a content team or established processes - you'll create them. You'll have the freedom to define the strategy, set the standards, and shape how CodeYogi shows up in the world. What You'll Do • Content Strategy & Planning (30% of time) - Develop CodeYogi's content strategy aligned with organizational goals (fundraising, student acquisition, partnerships, brand building) - Define brand voice, messaging framework, and core narrative pillars - Create and maintain editorial calendar for all content (blog, social, email, proposals, reports) - Prioritize content initiatives based on impact and organizational needs - Build content systems and templates for consistency and efficiency • Storytelling & Content Creation (50% of time) Write compelling content across formats: - Blog posts for students (educational, inspiring, accessible) - Fundraising proposals for funders (impact-driven, evidence-based) - Social media posts (LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram) for general audience - Email campaigns for partners, supporters, and community - Impact reports and case studies for stakeholders - Website copy and landing pages - Gather and tell student success stories with authenticity and dignity - Translate technical features (AI tutor, mobile IDE) into student benefits - Create content that inspires action (apply, donate, partner, join) • Collaboration & Stakeholder Management (20% of time) - Work with Founder/CEO to align on messaging and narrative - Interview students, teachers, and team members to gather stories and insights - Coordinate with operations team for data and impact metrics - Collaborate with partners on co-created content - Train team members on brand voice and storytelling - Provide board members and advisors with content for their networks Must-Have Skills & Experience • Strategic Thinking & Content Planning (Advanced - 7+ years) - Proven experience developing content strategy aligned with organizational goals - Can build editorial calendars, prioritize initiatives, and think in frameworks (messaging, audience segmentation, content pillars) - Connects content to measurable outcomes (fundraising success, student acquisition, partner engagement) - Balances short-term needs with long-term brand building • Exceptional Writing Across Formats (Advanced - 7+ years across multiple formats) - Portfolio demonstrating excellence across formats: blog posts, proposals, social media, email, case studies, reports - Adapts voice, tone, and structure to different audiences (students, funders, partners, general public) - Writes with clarity, precision, and emotional resonance - Simplifies complex ideas without oversimplifying - Strong command of grammar, style, and storytelling mechanics - Knows when to write long (deep narratives) vs. short (social posts, email subject lines) • Portfolio requirement: You must submit a portfolio or writing samples with your application. We cannot evaluate candidates without seeing their work. Nice-to-Have Skills • Storytelling & Narrative Development: Deep expertise in building story arcs, developing characters (student journeys), creating emotional resonance • Understanding of Education/Social Impact Sector: Experience in ed-tech, non-profit, or mission-driven organizations; familiar with funder language and impact metrics • Design Sensibility & Visual Storytelling: Can work with designers or create simple visuals (Canva); understands how design enhances narrative Who You Are (Foundational Qualities) We hire for character first, skills second. These 8 foundational qualities are non-negotiable for every person at CodeYogi: 1. Mission Alignment You genuinely care about educational equity and serving underserved students. You're motivated by impact, not just a byline. You see your words as tools to enable student success. 2. Ownership You take initiative, build from scratch, and own outcomes (not just tasks). You don't wait to be told what to write - you identify content gaps and fill them. 3. Resourcefulness You find creative solutions within constraints. You don't need a big budget, a design team, or perfect information to create compelling content. 4. Empathy You seek to understand vastly different audiences (tier-3 city students, wealthy funders, rural teachers) and adapt your voice, tone, and message to resonate with their context. 5. Integrity (NON-NEGOTIABLE) You're honest in your storytelling. You don't exaggerate impact, oversimplify challenges, or exploit student struggles for emotional effect. You tell stories with dignity, consent, and accuracy. 6. Communication & Collaboration You explain ideas clearly, listen actively, and collaborate cross-functionally (with ops, tech, fundraising teams). You interview students with empathy and translate their stories authentically. 7. Adaptability You stay calm when priorities shift (urgent proposal requests, last-minute campaigns). You learn new formats as needed and adjust strategy based on feedback. 8. Excellence You value quality, pay attention to details (zero typos in proposals), and continuously improve your craft. Your words represent CodeYogi to the world - quality matters. To be clear: You must demonstrate strength in ALL 8 qualities to receive an offer. We don't compromise on culture fit. What We Offer • Impact Your words will directly enable CodeYogi to serve more students. Every compelling proposal = more funding = more lives changed. Every inspiring blog post = more students empowered. • Ownership You'll own the entire narrative and content strategy - not just execute tasks. You'll shape how CodeYogi shows up in the world. • Creative Freedom No corporate bureaucracy, no brand police. You'll define the voice, build the strategy, and create the content. This is a build-from-scratch opportunity. • Growth Work directly with the Founder/CEO. Shape the story of a high-growth non-profit from the ground up. As we scale, you could build a content team. • Flexibility Remote work with flexible hours. We care about outcomes (content quality and impact), not clock-watching. • Mission-Driven Team Work with people who are here to make a difference, not just build a resume. Everyone at CodeYogi is driven by impact. What We're NOT Looking For • To be crystal clear, here's what we don't need: • Journalist without strategy - Great at writing stories but no experience developing content strategy • Strategist without craft - Can plan but can't execute; relies on others to write • Single-format specialist - Only writes blogs, or only writes proposals, but can't adapt • Pure marketer - Focused on conversions and metrics but lacks storytelling depth and mission alignment • Corporate content creator - Experience in for-profit tech but no understanding of social sector or mission-driven storytelling Equal Opportunity CodeYogi Foundation is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. We do not discriminate based on race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status. We especially encourage applications from candidates who have personally experienced the barriers our students face - because that lived experience makes you uniquely equipped to tell their stories with authenticity and dignity.
