Role - English - Audio Annotator Location: Gurgaon (5 Days Work From Office + 1 Day Work From Home) Experience: Minimum 3+ Years in Audio Data Annotation Industry: AI Data Services / Audio Annotation / Operations Team Size Exposure: Managed 30–50 Annotators (Freelancers / Vendors / Internal Team) We are hiring a Manager – Data Annotation (Audio) to lead large-scale audio annotation projects within our AI Data Services vertical. This role requires hands-on operational leadership across: · Audio annotation execution - Team management (freelancers, vendors, internal QC) - Quality control frameworks - Delivery planning & throughput management - Client-facing coordination The ideal candidate must have prior experience managing end-to-end audio annotation projects at scale. IMPORTANT REQUIREMENTS · Minimum 3+ years of experience in audio data annotation - Solid preference for experience on the Appen platform - Experience managing distributed freelancer/vendor teams - Exposure to handling a total team size of ~50 members - Ability to manage at least 200 audio hours per month - Proven ability to maintain 96%+ quality accuracy This is not an entry-level or coordinator role. This is an execution-heavy leadership role. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES PROJECT DELIVERY & EXECUTION · Lead end-to-end audio annotation projects - Plan monthly throughput (minimum 200+ audio hours) - Allocate work across freelancers and vendors - Monitor daily progress and output quality - Ensure on-time delivery within client SLAs QUALITY MANAGEMENT · Design and implement QC frameworks - Maintain minimum 96%+ accuracy threshold - Monitor inter-annotator agreement - Identify recurring quality gaps and resolve root causes - Conduct retraining sessions for underperforming annotators TEAM MANAGEMENT · Manage freelancers, vendors, and internal annotation teams - Build capacity planning models - Onboard and train new annotators - Handle escalations and performance management - Maintain productivity dashboards CLIENT & STAKEHOLDER COORDINATION · Act as delivery SPOC for audio annotation projects - Provide structured updates and quality reports - Handle client feedback cycles - Implement corrective action plans TECHNICAL EXPECTATIONS Strong understanding of: · Audio segmentation - Transcription & timestamping standards - Multi-speaker annotation - Emotion tagging / speech classification (preferred) - Noise labeling / acoustic tagging (preferred) - QA workflows & double-blind validation Experience on platforms like Appen is strongly preferred. Comfort with: · Google Sheets / trackers - QC reporting dashboards - Throughput forecasting - Accuracy metric tracking No hardcore coding required, but structured data comfort is essential.
