Location: Hyderabad ABOUT THE ROLE We are seeking a Backend Engineer with growing experience in backend development and AWS cloud services. You will contribute to the development and maintenance of our payments platform – a scalable, secure, and high-performance system powering critical payment operations. This role offers excellent opportunities to expand your technical skills while working on high-impact features alongside experienced engineers. • Eager Learner: Enthusiastic about growing backend engineering expertise • Reliable Contributor & Communicator: Takes ownership of assigned work and follows through with clear and timely updates • Team Player: Collaborates well and asks questions when needed • Quality Conscious: Cares about writing good, maintainable code • Problem Solver: Approaches challenges methodically with support from seniors • Proactive: Takes initiative and seeks learning opportunities KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Development & Architecture • Develop backend services using Python and AWS technologies (Lambdas, Step Functions) and Confluent Kafka messaging • Build and maintain REST APIs and microservices under senior engineer guidance • Implement features following established architectural patterns and design standards • Contribute to technical discussions and learn from architectural decisions Development & Quality • Write clean, well-tested code following Test-Driven Development (TDD) principles • Maintain good test coverage on assigned work and modules • Follow team coding standards and best practices • Participate in code reviews and learn from feedback AWS & Infrastructure • Work with AWS services (Lambda, DynamoDB, SQS/SNS, EventBridge, API Gateway, CloudWatch) • Support infrastructure deployments using Terraform under guidance • Contribute to event-driven architecture implementation • Apply CI/CD best practices Operations & Troubleshooting • Monitor application behavior using AWS CloudWatch and logging tools • Troubleshoot issues in development and testing environments • Support production troubleshooting under senior engineer guidance • Contribute to technical documentation and knowledge sharing Collaboration & Learning • Collaborate with product managers, QA engineers, and cross-functional, global teams • Work with senior engineers and learn through pair programming and mentorship • Participate in agile ceremonies (planning, standups, retrospectives) • Actively seek feedback and learning opportunities ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS Experience • 1-3 years of backend development experience • Some exposure to cloud platforms (AWS preferred) • Experience working in agile team environments Python & Backend Development • Solid proficiency in Python for backend development • Basic to intermediate understanding of REST APIs and microservices • Familiarity with asynchronous programming concepts • Growing understanding of backend system design AWS Cloud Services • Hands-on experience with AWS Lambda and/or similar serverless compute services • Working knowledge of AWS databases (DynamoDB or similar) • Familiarity with basic AWS services (SQS, SNS, API Gateway, CloudWatch) • Understanding of event-driven concepts Infrastructure & DevOps • Basic knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Terraform concepts • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes • Growing understanding of AWS deployment and management Fundamental Skills • Good problem-solving skills and logical thinking • Attention to detail and commitment to code quality • Understanding of secure and scalable system design principles • Strong communication and collaborative skills DESIRABLE SKILLS • Growing experience with AWS event-driven services (SQS/SNS, EventBridge) • Docker and containerization basics • Tools: GitLab, VS Code, JIRA/Confluence • Test-Driven Development (TDD) experience • Exposure to payment systems or fintech • Basic understanding of OAuth2 and API security • AWS CloudWatch and monitoring experience
