Job Roll Microbiologist · Microbiological Testing: Perform routine analysis of raw materials, in-process samples, finished products, and water systems to detect pathogens (e.g., Salmonella, E. coli, Staphylococcus aureus) and measure total aerobic microbial counts (TAMC) and total yeast/mold counts (TYMC). · Environmental Monitoring (EM): Monitor the manufacturing area hygiene through air sampling, surface swabs, and personnel monitoring to ensure a clean production environment. · Documentation and Compliance: Maintain detailed, accurate records of tests, prepare SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures), and manage documentation to ensure compliance with regulatory standards (e.g., ISO, GMP). · Laboratory Maintenance: Prepare culture media, perform growth promotion tests, and ensure calibration and maintenance of lab equipment (e.g., autoclaves, incubators, laminar air flow hoods). · Investigation and Reporting: Investigate Out-of-Specification (OOS) results or deviations in microbial limits, perform root cause analysis, and implement Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA). · Shelf-Life/Stability Studies: Conduct studies to ensure product quality remains consistent over its intended lifespan. Required Qualifications · Education: B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Food Science, or a related life science field. · Experience: Generally 3-5 years of hands-on experience in QC Microbiology, preferably in Nutraceuticals, food, beverage, pharma, or cosmetic manufacturing. · Technical Skills: Proficiency in aseptic techniques, microbial identification, and pathogen detection methods. · Knowledge: Strong understanding of GMP, GLP (Good Laboratory Practices), and HACCP.
