Role Overview:
You will be responsible for managing and supporting the IBM i (POWER) platform, ensuring system stability, security, and operational efficiency hosted in IBM Cloud. This role involves administration of IBM i environments, troubleshooting, and coordination with IBM Support, IBM Lab Services, and third-party vendors. Your strong technical expertise in IBM i systems and a proactive approach to problem-solving and system optimization will be crucial for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage IBM i 7.4 environments housing production and non-production LPARs.
- Perform system monitoring, maintenance, and upgrades.
- Administer LPARS, storage, and related infrastructure on the Power 9 platform.
- Utilize IBM i service tools for diagnostics.
- Analyze logs and send required information to IBM for issue resolution.
- Troubleshoot and resolve system-level issues promptly.
- Implement and maintain security updates.
- Manage user profiles, object authorities, and security within third-party software packages.
- Ensure compliance with organizational security standards.
- Install and configure third-party tools on IBM i Power systems.
- Coordinate with IBM Lab Services for specialized engagements.
- Monitor and manage Fortra Robot Scheduler alerts and job scheduling.
- Participate in IBM i security updates and periodic system upgrades.
- Collaborate with engineering teams for application support.
- BRMS support and maintenance with FlashCopy integration.
- FalconStor VTL upgrades, maintenance, and support.
- Work closely with IBM Support and Lab Services for technical and consulting support.
- Ensure timely delivery of contracted services and adherence to scope.
Qualifications Required:
- Strong knowledge of IBM i systems administration on the POWER Platform.
- Experience with IBMi service tools, LPAR management, and storage administration.
- Familiarity with Fortra Robot Scheduler, BRMS, and FalconStor VTL.
- IBM FlashCopy Toolkit.
- Hands-on experience in managing IBM i security, user profiles, and object authorities.
- Understanding of compliance requirements for enterprise systems.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve complex system issues.
- Skilled in log analysis and escalation to IBM support when necessary.
- Effective collaboration with internal teams and external vendors.
- Ability to document processes and communicate technical details clearly.
- Familiarity with IBM Cloud based hosting, large enterprise environments, third-party software packages integrated with IBM i, IBM Global Replication Service(GRS), and RPG programming. Role Overview:
