Position Summary
The Senior Steward supervises the stewarding team and ensures the cleanliness, hygiene, and proper maintenance of kitchen equipment, utensils, and back-of-house areas. This role supports smooth kitchen operations by maintaining high sanitation and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities Cleaning & Sanitation
• Ensure proper cleaning and sanitizing of dishes, cutlery, glassware, and kitchen equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen floors, walls, storage areas, and garbage zones.
• Follow hygiene and food safety standards at all times.
Team Supervision
• Supervise and assign tasks to junior stewards.
• Conduct training for new stewards on cleaning procedures and safety standards.
• Monitor attendance and performance of stewarding staff.
Equipment & Maintenance
• Ensure proper handling, cleaning, and storage of kitchen equipment.
• Report maintenance issues or damages to management.
• Oversee garbage disposal, waste segregation, and recycling procedures.
Inventory Control
• Monitor stock levels of cleaning supplies and chemicals.
• Ensure efficient use of cleaning materials to avoid wastage.
Skills & Requirements
• Proven experience as a Senior Steward or Steward in a hotel/restaurant environment.
• Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, kitchen hygiene, and safety standards.
• Ability to supervise and lead a team effectively.
• Physically fit and able to work long hours.
• 2–4 years of relevant experience preferred.
