Product QA Engineer - SAR & EO Image Validation

GalaxEye is an Indian space tech startup pioneering multi-sensor imaging satellites. The company is developing the Drishti Mission - the world’s first satellite with advanced multi-sensor capabilities delivering all-time, all-weather imagery, including nighttime and challenging environmental conditions. Headquartered in India and incubated at IIT Madras, GalaxEye focuses on enabling advanced geospatial analytics for governments, defense, and global industries. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Bengaluru for a QA/QC Engineer - SAR-EO Image Testing, Validation & Automation. We are seeking a QA/QC Engineer primarily focused on structured testing and validation of SAR and Electro-Optical imagery products and the associated image analysis applications. This is a testing-first role responsible for: • Manual and automated testing of SAR & EO imagery outputs • Validation of AI/ML model-driven image analysis results • Application-level testing of image analysis tools • Structured defect reporting and regression tracking • Audit-ready documentation and release validation. Key Responsibilities A. Image Testing & Model Output Validation • Perform manual inspection of SAR and EO imagery for artifacts, distortions, and inconsistencies. • Validate model outputs (detections, classifications, overlays) against expected performance. • Cross-check image analysis results against defined accuracy benchmarks. • Identify regression issues across model and product versions. • Maintain structured image validation checklists. B. Application Testing (Image Analysis Platform) • Test end-to-end workflows within the image analysis application (systematic testing of the application layer, not only imagery). • Validate rendering accuracy (overlays, annotations, bounding boxes). • Test feature releases across standalone and server-based deployments. • Conduct regression testing for new model versions and UI updates. • Identify functional, performance, and usability defects. C. Test Planning and Automation • Develop structured test cases for image products and application features. • Define measurable quality metrics for SAR and EO outputs and model performance. • Build automation scripts (Python preferred) for repetitive QC checks. Automation is required wherever feasible. • Implement regression testing frameworks. • Maintain test documentation and version tracking. D. Defect Tracking, Documentation and Audit • Maintain structured bug reports and anomaly logs. • Track defect lifecycle and verification status. • Generate QA validation reports for internal review and eventual customer delivery. • Ensure QA processes are reproducible and auditable. E. Process Independence • Operate independently from processing and algorithm teams to prevent bias. • Validate outputs strictly against defined metrics and standards. • Escalate quality deviations systematically. • Contribute to continuous improvement of QA frameworks. Note: This role is accountable for QA sign-off prior to internal release or customer delivery. Requirements Required Qualifications: • Bachelor’s/Master’s in Remote Sensing, Geoinformatics, GIS, Physics, EE, or related. • 2-3 years experience in QA/testing roles (image/data-heavy systems preferred). • Experience with SAR and/or EO imagery analysis. • Familiarity with image analysis tools (QGIS, SNAP, ENVI, or equivalent). • Experience performing manual and regression testing. • Familiarity with version-controlled release testing. • Basic Python scripting skills for automation. • Strong documentation and structured reporting ability. • High attention to detail and systematic thinking. Preferred: • Experience testing AI/ML-based image analysis outputs. • Exposure to model accuracy validation or benchmarking. • Experience in startup or fast-iteration product environments.
