Job Description – Library Assistant
(For IB, ICSE & IGCSE Sections)
Position Title: Library Assistant
Reports To: Head Teacher Librarian
Department: Library
Catalogue, classify, and maintain accurate metadata of books and digital resources using Koha or equivalent library management systems.
Assist in ordering, processing, and accessioning of resources.
Library Setup Support
Organize shelves and maintain neat and accessible collections.
Supervision & Student Monitoring
Supervise students during library hours and ensure appropriate conduct.
Report Generation & Data Documentation
Assist in preparing monthly/annual reports on library activities.
Prepare subject-wise bibliographies and reading/resource lists to support IB inquiry, ICSE reading programs, and IGCSE project work.
Library Programs & Display Support
Facilitate access to digital tools, databases (DSpace, online subscriptions), and academic support resources.
Computer Knowledge: Proficiency in Koha, DSpace, Google Workspace, MS Office; familiarity with AI tools for research and library management.
Understanding of academic referencing tools (MLA).
Adaptability to IB inquiry-based methods, ICSE reference needs, and IGCSE project requirements.
Qualifications & experience
Bachelor’s degree (preferably in Library Science, Information Science, or a related field).
Prior experience in a school or academic library (preferred).
Familiarity with IB, ICSE, and IGCSE curricula (desirable).
Based in library spaces across different sections (IB, ICSE, IGCSE) as required.
Involves student supervision, administrative tasks, and participation in school-wide academic and co-curricular events.
