Job Description Job Title: College Librarian Location: Harsha Institute of Physiotherapy, Nelamangala Bangalore Deapartment: Library Reports To: Principal Position Type: Full time Experiance: 1 to 2 year The College Librarian is responsible for managing all aspects of library services, including resource acquisition, organization, user services, and information literacy programs. This role ensures that the library serves as a vital resource for faculty, students, and staff in supporting academic and research endeavors. Key Responsibilities 1. Library Management and Operations • Develop, implement, and manage library policies, procedures, and services. • Oversee the organization, cataloging, and maintenance of library resources. • Supervise library staff, including recruitment, training, and performance evaluation. • Manage the library budget and allocate resources effectively. 2. Resource Acquisition and Management • Evaluate and select books, journals, databases, and other materials in alignment with curriculum needs. • Collaborate with faculty to ensure the library supports teaching and research activities. • Maintain an updated collection of print and digital resources. 3. User Services • Provide guidance to students and faculty on using library resources effectively. • Conduct orientation and training sessions for new students and staff. • Address inquiries and provide assistance with research, reference services, and citation tools. 4. Information Literacy and Research Support • Design and deliver workshops to promote information literacy skills. • Support faculty and students in accessing, evaluating, and using information ethically. • Develop subject guides and instructional materials to support academic success. 5. Technology Integration • Oversee the implementation and maintenance of library software systems (e.g., OPAC, digital repositories). • Stay updated with emerging technologies to enhance library services. • Manage the integration of e-resources, online databases, and other digital tools. 6. Collaboration and Outreach • Partner with academic departments to align library resources with course requirements. • Organize events, exhibitions, or programs to encourage library use. • Represent the library on academic committees and institutional forums. Required Qualifications • Education: Master's degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS) or equivalent. • Experience: Relevant experience in an academic or research library. • Skills: • Strong knowledge of library management systems and digital resources. • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. • Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students. Preferred Qualifications • Familiarity with curriculum design and accreditation standards. • Experience with research support services and digital repositories. • Proficiency in managing budgets and library metrics.
