Description We are looking for a Database Migration Engineer with strong skills in Oracle and PostgreSQL internals, database development, performance optimization, and migration automation. The candidate will be responsible for converting Oracle-based applications and databases to PostgreSQL while ensuring accuracy, performance, and reliability. Key Responsibilities • Oracle DB internals: Understanding Oracle-specific features like PL/SQL, packages, triggers, sequences, and data types. • PostgreSQL internals: Knowledge of PostgreSQL architecture, SQL syntax, and capabilities. • Translate Oracle SQL and PL/SQL code to PostgreSQL SQL and PL/pgSQL. • Handle differences in syntax, functions, and stored procedure logic. • Understanding how to convert Data types Constraints, indexes, sequences, Users, roles, and privileges • Performance Tuning • Backup & Recovery • Ensure rollback plans are in place in case of issues. • Basic Linux/Unix system administration • Database deployment and configuration • Ora2Pg (most commonly used open-source tool) and pgloader • Write ETL scripts in Python, Shell, or SQL for data transformation and movement. • Automate migration workflows using scripting.
