Job Summary We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer – Precast with strong hands-on expertise in designing, detailing, and fabrication of precast concrete moulds used in infrastructure and residential construction. The role involves end-to-end responsibility from concept design to fabrication coordination and site support. Key Responsibilities Precast Mould Design & Engineering • Design and develop precast concrete moulds for: • Infrastructure products (railway sleepers, pipes, drains, culverts, manholes, barriers, etc.) • Residential and commercial precast elements (walls, columns, beams, slabs, staircases) • Prepare concept, GA, and detailed fabrication drawings for precast moulds. • Ensure mould designs meet dimensional accuracy, surface finish, durability, and repeatability requirements. • Design moulds considering ease of casting, demoulding, handling, and long service life. Structural & Mechanical Calculations • Perform design calculations for: • Concrete pressure on moulds • Stiffeners, plates, and structural members • Lifting points and handling loads Fabrication & Manufacturing Support • Coordinate with the fabrication shop to ensure correct execution of designs. • Provide fabrication-ready drawings with: • Material specifications • Welding details • Tolerances and surface finish requirements • Resolve shop-floor design issues and suggest practical improvements. Quality, Optimization & Cost Control • Optimize mould designs to reduce material consumption and fabrication cost without compromising quality. • Improve mould durability and cycle life through better design practices. • Support quality inspections and trial casting activities. Project Coordination • Work closely with: • Production and fabrication teams • Project managers and clients • Support installation, trial runs, and commissioning of precast moulds at plant sites. • Prepare technical documentation, BOMs, and as-built drawings. Required Qualifications • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering. • 3–6 years of experience in precast mould design and fabrication (mandatory). • Proven experience in infrastructure and residential precast concrete products. Technical Skills • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD (mandatory). • Experience with SolidWorks / Inventor / Creo (preferred). • Sound knowledge of: • Precast concrete production processes • Fabrication techniques (cutting, bending, welding, assembly) • Materials used in mould manufacturing (MS plates, sections, fasteners) • Ability to read and interpret structural drawings and specifications. Key Competencies • Practical, fabrication-oriented design approach • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills • Attention to detail and quality • Good coordination and communication with shop-floor teams • Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects Preferred Experience • Experience in Railway concrete sleeper moulds or large infrastructure precast projects. • Exposure to precast plant setup or turnkey precast solutions. • Knowledge of lifting design and handling systems.
