SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: Nil Job Description – SAP BASIS Consultant (with Oracle & HANA Administration Expertise) Position: SAP BASIS & Database administrator. Experience Level: Mid–Senior level(3-6) Location: Chennai Employment Type: Full-time. Weightage: BASIS (30%), Oracle (50%), HANA/SQL (20%). Role Summary We are seeking a highly skilled SAP BASIS Consultant with strong expertise in Oracle Database Administration, HANA Administration, and SQL Database management. The consultant will be responsible for end‑to‑end administration, performance tuning, patching, high availability (HA), DR drill management, and L1–L3 support across SAP and database layers. The work distribution for this role is: - Oracle Administration – 50% - SAP BASIS – 30% - HANA & SQL Database Administration – 20% This is a critical role requiring hands-on experience in managing large-scale SAP landscapes, Oracle RAC clusters, HANA HA (including pacemaker), and handling critical outages with minimal downtime. Oracle Database Administration (50%) - Manage Oracle database architecture, configuration, performance tuning, and troubleshooting. - Administer Oracle RAC cluster including installation, patching, reconfiguration, and failover testing. - End-to-end DR drill execution for Oracle databases. - Perform database startup/shutdown, health checks, and manual monitoring without tools. - Backup & recovery using RMAN and ad-hoc/manual backup execution - . - Perform data restore operations for Oracle environments. - Tablespace and table partition management. - Deep knowledge of SQL queries, execution plans, and performance optimization. - Handle data corruption, data loss, log management, and recovery scenarios. - Manage Oracle parameters, patches, updates, and upgrades. - DB space management & alert analysis. - B. SAP BASIS Administration (30%) - Perform SAP system startup/shutdown, health checks, and availability monitoring. - SAP user administration, role modifications, and authorizations (as applicable). - SAP kernel configuration, upgrades, and patching. - Manage SAP application patching, SAP Bundle Patch deployment, SPAM/SAINT updates, and SAP lifecycle management. - Analyze and troubleshoot SAP performance issues (ABAP stack, work processes, buffers, RFCs, enqueue, etc.). - Coordinate outages, communicate planned downtime, and prepare change documentation. - Support OpenText archiving and management. - Foresee and manage BASIS tasks across L1/L2/L3 support. Complete documentation, runbooks, SOPs, and governance compliance. C. SAP HANA & SQL Database Administration (20%) - Perform HANA and SQL database health checks, performance tuning, and monitoring. - Hands-on experience with HANA HA (Active-Active with Pacemaker). - Execute HANA DR drills end-to-end. - HANA and SQL database backup/restore operations. - Manage HANA/SQL user accounts and security parameters. - Handle table partitioning, in-memory performance tuning, and column/table store administration. - Updates/upgrades for HANA & SQL environments. - Manage HANA/SQL parameters, memory configurations, and DB-level troubleshooting. - Address critical outages for HANA and SQL databases with quick restoration. - 3. Core Technical Skills Required SAP BASIS - SAP system administration, kernel upgrades, transport management - SAP patching, SPAM/SAINT, SUM/DMO - SAP performance tuning & workload analysis - SAP authorization and user admin - SAP archiving concepts (OpenText) Oracle Database - Oracle RAC, ASM, RMAN - SQL tuning & performance optimization - Oracle patches/upgrades (PSU/CPU/Bundle patches) - Tablespace & partition management - DR drill & HA operations - Oracle parameter & memory management - Data corruption recovery SAP HANA & SQL - HANA Studio, Cockpit administration - HANA HA (system replication, pacemaker clusters) - SQL database backup/restore - HANA/SQL patching and revision upgrades - Memory, CPU, disk performance tuning 4. Additional Responsibilities - Coordinate cross-functional teams during critical outages. - Provide L1/L2/L3 support across SAP and database layers. - Prepare RCA (Root Cause Analysis) and incident resolutions. - Participate in capacity planning & performance reviews. - Ensure documentation accuracy and governance compliance (change management, audit readiness). 5. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT, or related field. - 3-6 years of combined experience in SAP BASIS, Oracle DBA, and HANA Administration. - Certifications (preferred): - SAP BASIS / SAP HANA - Oracle OCP/OCA - Linux/Unix OS fundamentals 6. Required Soft Skills - Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills. - Ability to work under pressure during critical outages. - Excellent communication and coordination skills. - Strong ownership, accountability, and governance mindset. 7. Work Environment - Willingness to support on-call rotation for critical issues. - Ability to handle production systems and mission‑critical infrastructure
