Fractional CFO / Finance Controller – US Real Estate Brokerage (Commission & Trust Accounting Heavy)

Fractional Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Trust & Commission Finance | Part-Time | EST Hours Role Overview: We’re hiring a senior, hands-on CFO to own trust accounting, commissions, settlements, and financial controls in a high-transaction environment. This is not a reporting-only role. You’ll have direct ownership of where every dollar flows . The company is headquartered in New York, serves SME clients across industries , and combines legal precision with strategic financial solutions to support growth and recovery. This role is ideal for someone who has:Managed US GAAP accounting Overseen real estate brokerage / mortgage / commission-based revenue models Designed or managed commission split structures, clawbacks, and payout waterfalls Handled client trust / escrow-style accounts Built strong month-end close, reconciliation, and internal controls Worked directly with US CPAs and auditors Implemented or optimized accounting systems (NetSuite preferred) Core ResponsibilitiesOversee full-cycle US accounting under US GAAP Manage complex commission calculations & agent payouts Ensure proper handling of client funds / trust accounts Build scalable processes and internal controls Improve revenue recognition and collections tracking Partner with leadership on financial visibility & reporting What We Are NOT Looking ForManufacturing-only CFO backgrounds GST/VAT-heavy domestic compliance profiles Pure FP&A strategy profiles without operational depth Ideal BackgroundUS brokerage / prop-tech / mortgage firm Commission-heavy financial models Multi-entity structures Fast-growing or entrepreneurial environments
