X-ray Technician Job Description: Radiology Technician Job Summary: To perform radiologic examinations following established procedures for patient care and safety. To assist the health care providers in the diagnosis and treatment of patients seen in the clinic. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Prepares patients for radiologic procedures. Takes X-Rays following established procedures for patient care and safety. 2. Uses a variety of radiation protection and shielding materials. 3. Ensures equipment is in working order. Reports equipment malfunctions to Department Head. 4. Logs radiologic procedures completed. Processes related paperwork using computer equipment as directed. 5. Maintains examination rooms. Stocks necessary medical and radiologic supplies. 6. Performs basic nursing duties to ensure good patient flow. 7. Responsible for taking patient history and obtain vital signs prior to Provider seeing patient. 8. Perform basic testing or screenings such as: vision (Snellen, and Ishihara), audio testing, DOT urine drug screens, Non-DOT urine drug screens, and EKGs. 9. Accurately complete corresponding paperwork/computer work for lab tests ordered on blood, urine, tissue, and culture samples. 10. Perform necessary phlebotomy for collection of laboratory samples. 11. Perform all rapid medical tests available in the clinic. 12. Responsible for packaging, signing of medical records release forms & logging X-Rays. 13. Ensures all radiographs achieve a radiographic interpretation by clarifying discrepancies. 14. Sterilize all reusable medical instruments. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: 1. Minimum high school degree or equivalent. SKILLS: 1. Proficient knowledge of X-Ray procedures and protocols. 2. Knowledge of anatomy and physiology necessary to perform X-Ray testing including body mechanics and patient movement. 3. Knowledge of radiology equipment including safety hazards common to radiology.
