Electric Vehicle Service Technician

A Bajaj Chetak EV technician is responsible for the maintenance, diagnostics, and repair of the Chetak electric scooter, ensuring it operates efficiently, safely, and with minimal downtime. They specialize in high-voltage systems, battery technology, and smart connectivity features unique to the vehicle. Key Roles and Responsibilities: Diagnostics and Troubleshooting: Using diagnostic tools and software to identify faults in electrical systems, battery management systems (BMS), motors, and controllers. Battery Maintenance: Handling, testing, and troubleshooting lithium-ion batteries, including monitoring state-of-charge (SOC) and ensuring safe thermal management. Electrical & Mechanical Repair: Repairing or replacing powertrain components, such as the BLDC/PMSM motor and drivetrain, as well as fixing issues with the instrument cluster, lighting, and wiring. Software Updates: Managing Over-the-Air (OTA) updates and calibrating vehicle firmware to ensure the scooter is running the latest software version. Scheduled Servicing: Performing routine maintenance at designated service intervals (12,000 km or 1 year), including checking for mechanical deterioration due to vibration or moisture. High Voltage Safety: Adhering strictly to safety standards (AIS/BIS) when handling high-voltage systems, including isolating the system and using proper personal protective equipment (PPE). Customer Support & Education: Explaining technical issues to customers, providing advice on battery care, and assisting with charging setup issues. Chetak Electric +5 Required Skills and Qualifications: Education: Typically requires a diploma or degree in electrical, electronics, or automobile engineering. Knowledge: Strong understanding of EV powertrains, CAN bus protocols, and motor controllers. Experience: Previous experience in the EV or automotive service industry is generally preferred. Technicians must ensure that all service activities, particularly those related to the 'TecPac' (connected features like hill hold assist, reverse mode, and app connectivity), are performed according to Bajaj Auto’s standards
