Master Technician (Mercedes-Benz & BMW) – Automotive Data Specialist Location: Remote Type: Part-Time / Flexible About the Role We are building an intelligent system to help the automotive industry better understand and structure repair data. Most repair orders contain inconsistent terminology, shorthand, and incomplete documentation. Valuable technical knowledge exists in these records, but it is unstructured. We are seeking an experienced Mercedes-Benz or BMW Master Technician to help translate real-world repair knowledge into structured, accurate data. This role leverages dealership expertise in a remote, analytical environment. You will not be performing physical repairs. Instead, you will apply your diagnostic knowledge to interpret repair documentation and help train a system to understand how dealership repairs actually work. Key Responsibilities • Review and interpret historical repair orders • Analyze technician notes to determine the actual repair performed, even when documentation is incomplete or unclear. • Standardize repair data • Correct terminology and categorize repairs accurately. For example, converting informal descriptions into proper part and procedure classifications. • Map diagnostic logic • Help connect symptoms, root causes, parts replaced, and final repairs. Contribute to building structured logic that reflects real dealership diagnostic processes. • Validate system output • Review system-generated repair predictions and confirm whether they are technically accurate, realistic, and consistent with dealership standards. • Contribute subject matter expertise • Provide insight into Mercedes-Benz or BMW service procedures, maintenance schedules, and diagnostic best practices. Qualifications • 5+ years of experience in a Mercedes-Benz or BMW franchise dealership • Master Technician certification preferred • Deep familiarity with Xentry (Mercedes) or ISTA (BMW) diagnostic software • Strong understanding of dealership repair workflows and service operations • High attention to detail and strong documentation standards • Ability to work independently in a remote environment Ideal Candidate Profile You are the technician others rely on when diagnostics become complex. You value precision and accuracy in documentation. You may be looking to transition away from the physical demands of shop work while continuing to apply your expertise in a meaningful way. Why This Role Matters This position transforms hands-on technical experience into structured automotive intelligence. Your knowledge will directly influence how repair information is understood and used across the industry. Rather than working on one vehicle at a time, your expertise will contribute to improving repair data at scale. We value diverse experiences and backgrounds, so we encourage you to apply if you meet some but not all of the listed qualifications. The starting salary range for this role is [hiring target], depending on experience and qualifications, reflecting our dedication to competitive industry compensation.
