BI & Data Science Lead

Job Title: Data Lead Location: Hyderabad (Work from Office) Function: Data Analytics / Business Intelligence Employment Type: Full-time Working Days: 5 Days a Week About The Role As a Data Lead at NxtWave, you will be responsible for driving data analytics initiatives end-to-end — from translating business requirements into analytical frameworks to delivering impactful insights that influence decision-making across a business unit. You'll define metrics, design scalable data models, and mentor a team of analysts to ensure consistent, high-quality analytics delivery. This role combines strategic ownership with hands-on problem-solving, playing a key part in building automation, standardization, and self-serve analytics across the organization. Key Responsibilities Lead end-to-end analytics projects — from problem definition and data collection to insight generation and visualization. Mentor and guide a team of data analysts to deliver accurate, actionable, and timely reports and dashboards. Define, track, and improve key business metrics (KPIs) in alignment with organizational goals. Collaborate with business, product, engineering, and operations teams to gather requirements and ensure data-driven execution. Ensure data quality, consistency, and governance through structured validation and documentation. Recommend improvements in data collection methods and strengthen data pipelines. Automate recurring reports and develop self-serve dashboards to reduce manual dependencies. Translate data insights into clear business narratives and recommendations for senior stakeholders. Stay current with modern tools, technologies, and analytical methodologies. Take ownership of team deliverables, performance, and continuous improvement initiatives. Skills & Competencies Strong command of SQL, with the ability to handle large and complex datasets efficiently. Hands-on experience with cloud data warehouses (BigQuery, Snowflake, or Redshift). Proficiency with data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Looker Studio. Strong understanding of data modeling, KPI design, and metric standardization. Experience with data transformation tools (e.g., dbt) and workflow automation. Solid understanding of statistics and experience analyzing data in Python or Excel/Google Sheets. Strong data storytelling and visualization skills to communicate insights clearly. Familiarity with machine learning and AI concepts (hands-on experience is a plus). Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and time management abilities. Demonstrated experience mentoring or leading junior analysts. Qualifications & Experience Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or related fields. Minimum 2+ years of experience in analytics, business intelligence, or data science roles. Strong proficiency in English and professional communication skills.
