Senior Database Developer ( Oracle, SQL Server, and PostgreSQL )

Role Overview / Scope Of Work This position requires a highly motivated and results-driven PostgreSQL Database Developer with extensive experience building scalable, secure, and high-performance database solutions. The role supports a full Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) project, focusing on designing, developing, and optimizing back-end database services, large-scale data migration, and complex database architecture. The selected candidate will play a critical role in ensuring data integrity, performance optimization, and seamless migration across heterogeneous database environments. Key Responsibilities • Design, develop, and implement large-scale data migration strategies using scripts and specialized data migration/transformation tools across Oracle, SQL Server, and PostgreSQL environments. • Architect solutions for cross-database data migration, ensuring zero data loss and maintaining referential integrity during complex migrations. • Develop and maintain PostgreSQL database code including stored procedures, functions, triggers, views, queries, and PL/pgSQL scripts to support business logic and application requirements. • Analyze existing SQL and PL/pgSQL code for performance bottlenecks and implement optimization strategies (indexing, query rewriting, partitioning). • Design relational logical data models and corresponding physical schema designs optimized for scalability and performance. • Implement effective, maintainable database coding practices that establish a robust architectural foundation for enterprise applications. • Participate actively in Agile/SCRUM teams, contributing to user story refinement, effort estimation, sprint planning, and sprint reviews. • Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve data integrity issues, system errors, and user-related database problems. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to review requirements, validate solutions, and ensure alignment with business objectives. • Document database designs, migration strategies, code standards, and operational procedures for knowledge transfer and maintenance. Required Skills & Experience • 8+ years of hands-on experience working with enterprise databases including Oracle, SQL Server, and PostgreSQL. • Specialized expertise in data migration for highly complex applications across heterogeneous database platforms. • Proven experience strategizing and executing large-scale data migrations using custom scripts and industry-standard migration/transformation tools. • Advanced PostgreSQL development skills: PL/pgSQL stored procedures, functions, triggers, views, query optimization, performance tuning. • Strong proficiency in relational database design: logical data modeling, physical schema design, normalization/denormalization strategies. • Demonstrated experience with Agile/SCRUM methodologies and SDLC processes (requirement analysis, estimation, sprint delivery). • Excellent analytical problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail and data integrity. • Superior communication skills (speaking, listening, writing) with ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders. • Proactive, self-starting mindset with strong ownership of deliverables and timelines. • Broad and deep knowledge of PostgreSQL architecture, indexing strategies, backup/recovery, and high-availability configurations. Preferred Qualifications • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related technical field. • Experience with cloud database services (Azure PostgreSQL, AWS RDS PostgreSQL, Google Cloud SQL). • Familiarity with data migration tools (e.g., Oracle Data Pump, AWS DMS, Azure Database Migration Service). • Knowledge of ETL/ELT frameworks and modern data pipeline architectures. • Experience with containerized database deployments (Docker, Kubernetes).
