Insurance and Billing Coordinator

The Insurance and Billing Coordinator is responsible for handling all aspects of insurance verification, claims processing, and patient billing. This role involves maintaining accurate records, ensuring compliance with insurance policies, and providing excellent customer service to patients regarding their billing inquiries. Key Responsibilities: - **Insurance Verification**: - Verify patient insurance coverage and benefits prior to services being rendered. - Obtain pre-authorizations and referrals as required by insurance companies. - Maintain up-to-date records of patient insurance information. - **Claims Processing**: - Prepare and submit insurance claims accurately and in a timely manner. - Follow up on unpaid or denied claims, working with insurance companies to resolve issues. - Appeal denied claims when necessary. - **Patient Billing**: - Generate and send out patient statements and invoices. - Explain billing processes and insurance coverage to patients. - Handle patient billing inquiries and resolve any discrepancies. - **Record Keeping and Compliance**: - Maintain detailed and organized records of all insurance and billing transactions. - Ensure compliance with healthcare laws, regulations, and standards. - Stay updated with changes in insurance policies and billing procedures. - **Financial Reporting**: - Prepare financial reports related to billing and insurance claims. - Assist with the reconciliation of accounts and reporting of financial discrepancies. - **Customer Service**: - Provide excellent customer service to patients, addressing their concerns and questions about billing and insurance. - Liaise between patients, insurance companies, and healthcare providers to ensure smooth communication and resolution of issues.
