Assistant Professor in Legal Studies

Job description:
The Assistant Professor of Legal Studies will contribute to the academic mission of the department through high-quality teaching, scholarly research, and service. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in legal studies and related fields, maintain an active research agenda, advise students, and participate in departmental and university committees.
Key Responsibilities1. Teaching & Instruction
- Teach a range of courses in legal studies, such as:
- Introduction to Law
- Constitutional Law
- Business Law
- Criminal Justice
- Legal Research & Writing
- Ethics and Professional Responsibility
- Develop course syllabi, assignments, exams, and instructional materials.
- Create an inclusive, engaging, and academically rigorous classroom environment.
- Utilize effective instructional methods, including active learning and technology-enhanced teaching.
- Mentor and advise students on academic progress and career planning.
- Research & Scholarship
- Conduct original scholarly research in the field of law or legal studies.
- Publish articles, book chapters, or monographs in peer-reviewed journals or academic presses.
- Present research at national and international conferences.
- Seek external funding or grants, when applicable.
- Service to Department and University
- Serve on departmental, college, and university committees.
- Participate in curriculum development and program assessment.
- Assist with student recruitment, retention, and outreach activities.
- Contribute to accreditation processes or program reviews.
- Community & Professional Engagement
- Engage with legal organizations, professional associations, and community partners.
- Provide expertise for public events, workshops, or continuing education programs.
- Collaborate on interdisciplinary initiatives with other departments.
Qualifications Required Qualifications
- Ph.D. or terminal degree in Legal Studies, Law , (completed ).
- UGC NET Qualified.
- Demonstrated potential for scholarly research and publication.
- Evidence of effective teaching or teaching potential at the college level.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching a broad range of legal studies courses.
- A strong record of peer-reviewed publications or ongoing research projects.
- Experience with curriculum development or instructional innovation.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in teaching and scholarship.
- Professional legal experience (e.g., practicing attorney, legal consultant) is advantageous but not always required.
