Job Purpose

To maintain, repair, troubleshoot, and improve injection moulds to ensure uninterrupted production, consistent product quality, and optimum mould life.

Key Responsibilities

Preventive Maintenance

  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance of injection moulds as per maintenance plan.
  • Clean mould cavities, cores, vents, sliders, lifters, ejector systems, and cooling channels.
  • Inspect mould components for wear, damage, corrosion, and alignment issues.
  • Maintain maintenance records and history cards for each mould.

Breakdown Maintenance

  • Attend mould breakdowns during production.
  • Diagnose root causes of mould-related defects and machine stoppages.
  • Repair or replace damaged mould components.
  • Ensure minimum downtime and quick restoration of production.

Mould Assembly & Trials

  • Assemble and disassemble injection moulds safely.
  • Verify mould functioning after maintenance activities.

Tool Room Activities

  • Operate tool room equipment such as:
  • Surface Grinder
  • Milling Machine
  • Lathe Machine
  • EDM Machine
  • Bench Grinding Equipment
  • Polishing Equipment
  • Perform fitting, polishing, and minor machining activities.

Quality & Continuous Improvement

  • Analyze recurring mould failures and implement corrective actions.
  • Participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA), CAPA, and continuous improvement projects.

Documentation

  • Maintain mould maintenance records.
  • Update spare parts consumption records.
  • Prepare maintenance reports and breakdown analysis reports.
  • Ensure proper identification and traceability of moulds.

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all safety procedures during mould handling and maintenance.
  • Use proper lifting equipment and PPE.
  • Maintain 5S standards in the tool room.
  • Comply with ISO 9001, AS9100, medical device, or customer-specific requirements.

Qualification

  • Diploma Tool & Die Making, - NTTF or GTTC

Experience

  • Technician: 2–5 years in injection mould maintenance.

Required Skills

Technical Skills

  • Injection mould construction and working principles.
  • Hot runner and cold runner systems.
  • Hydraulic and pneumatic mould systems.
  • Mould defect analysis (preferred).
  • Reading engineering drawings and GD&T.
  • Polishing and fitting techniques.
  • Preventive maintenance planning.

Troubleshooting Skills

Knowledge of mould defects such as:

  • Flash
  • Short Shot
