Clinical Pharmacist – Oncology

Experience Required:

1 to 3 years (preferably in Oncology / Clinical Pharmacy)

Qualification:

  • Pharm.D / M.Pharm (Pharmacy Practice / Clinical Pharmacy / Oncology preferred)
  • Registered Pharmacist with valid State Pharmacy Council
  • Certification in Oncology Pharmacy (preferred but not mandatory)

Job Summary:

The Clinical Pharmacist – Oncology is responsible for ensuring safe, effective, and evidence-based use of medications in cancer care. The role involves reviewing chemotherapy orders, participating in multidisciplinary care, monitoring adverse drug reactions, and providing patient counseling to optimize therapeutic outcomes.

Key Responsibilities: Clinical Responsibilities:

  • Review and validate chemotherapy prescriptions for accuracy, dosing, protocol compliance, and patient-specific parameters (BSA, renal/hepatic function).
  • Ensure adherence to standard oncology protocols and treatment guidelines.
  • Identify, prevent, and resolve drug-related problems (interactions, contraindications, duplications).
  • Participate in ward rounds with oncologists and healthcare teams.
  • Monitor and document adverse drug reactions (ADRs) and toxicities related to chemotherapy.
  • Recommend dose adjustments based on lab values and patient condition.

Chemotherapy Preparation & Safety:

  • Supervise or assist in preparation of cytotoxic drugs in sterile environments (e.g., laminar airflow / isolators).
  • Ensure compliance with safe handling, storage, and disposal of cytotoxic medications.
  • Verify correct labeling, dilution, and administration instructions.
  • Ensure use of PPE and adherence to occupational safety standards.

Patient Care & Counseling:

  • Educate patients and caregivers on chemotherapy regimens, side effects, and supportive care.
  • Provide counseling on oral chemotherapy and adherence.
  • Guide patients on managing side effects (nausea, neutropenia, mucositis, etc.).
  • Promote medication adherence and lifestyle modifications.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹50,000.00 per month
