- Pre-Production Checks
Before starting production, IPQC must verify the following:
- Line clearance is completed and approved.
- No previous product or packaging material is present on the line.
- Machines, conveyors, and contact parts are properly cleaned and sanitised.
- Workers are wearing proper PPE (hairnet, gloves, mask, apron).
- Correct SKU packaging material (bottles, caps, labels, cartons) is available.
- The batch coding machine is working properly.
- Area cleanliness and housekeeping are satisfactory.
- Raw Honey Quality Checks
IPQC should verify the following parameters before filling:
- Colour and appearance are as per specification.
- Taste and odour are normal.
- No foreign particles or contamination present.
- Honey temperature is suitable for filling.
- In-Process Quality Checks (During Production)
These checks should be performed at regular intervals (every 30 minutes or 1 hour).
- Net weight/fill volume of bottles.
- Cap fitment and sealing (torque check if required).
- Leakage test of filled bottles.
- Bottle condition (no cracks, dents, or damage).
- Label alignment and proper application.
- Batch coding, MRP, and manufacturing date are clearly printed.
- Visual inspection for foreign particles.
- Packaging Material Inspection
IPQC must inspect packaging materials such as:
- PET bottles are free from scratches, cracks, or deformation.
- Caps are properly fitting and defect-free.
- Labels have correct artwork and clear printing.
- Cartons are in good condition and properly printed.
- Barcode and product information are readable.
- Rejection Control
If any defect is observed:
- Defective bottles should be immediately segregated.
- Rejection quantity should be recorded.
- The production team should be informed immediately.
- If a major issue is observed, the material should be put on hold for investigation.
- Documentation
IPQC must maintain proper records, such as:
- In-process inspection sheet
- Weight verification record
- Rejection report
- Line clearance checklist
- Batch Production Record (BPR)

- Underweight or overweight bottles
