Overview:
The Lab Chemist - R&D will play a pivotal role in the development and optimization of new chemical products and processes. This position involves conducting innovative research, performing experimental trials, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance product performance and safety. The ideal candidate will leverage their expertise in organic chemistry to contribute to cutting-edge projects that drive the organization's goals in research and development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and execute experiments to synthesize and characterize new compounds.
- Analyze experimental data and interpret results to inform decision-making and future experiments.
- Conduct literature research to identify potential applications and regulatory requirements for new materials.
- Collaborate with product development teams to support the transfer of laboratory findings to production.
- Maintain accurate and organized documentation of all research activities in compliance with laboratory protocols.
- Ensure that all laboratory practices comply with safety regulations and quality standards.
- Mentor and train junior staff or interns in laboratory techniques and safety procedures.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in organic chemistry principles and laboratory techniques, including synthesis and analytical chemistry methods (e.g., chromatography, spectroscopy).
- Familiarity with laboratory equipment and instrumentation, including NMR, HPLC, and mass spectrometry.
- Experience in data analysis software and computational chemistry tools.
- Ability to conduct experiments requiring attention to detail and critical thinking skills.
- Knowledge of material safety data sheets (MSDS) and chemical safety practices.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a laboratory setting focusing on research and development.
- Proven experience in organic synthesis and characterization of chemical compounds.
Skills & Experience:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly related to chemical properties and processes.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and present research findings.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while adhering to timelines and quality standards.
