Nanda & Associate Lawyers is a Canadian law firm based in Ontario, Canada. We are expanding our support team in Bangalore and are seeking a Legal Assistant with a Law Degree to assist our lawyers with Canadian real estate transactions.

Full training will be provided. Candidates are not expected to have prior experience in Canadian real estate law, but must have a minimum of two years of professional work experience and strong organizational and analytical skills.

This role requires working night shifts aligned with Canadian Eastern Time (EST).

Office Timings (Canadian Shift)

7:00 pm – 4:30 am IST

Five days per week.

Qualifications

  • Law Degree (LLB or equivalent) required
  • Minimum 2 years of work experience in any professional environment
  • Well versed with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat
  • Fast typing skills
  • Strong critical and analytical skills
  • Ability to understand legal documents
  • Strong computer proficiency
  • Excellent spoken and written English
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks
  • Ability to work well within a team environment
  • Ability to manage large workload volumes and competing priorities
  • Reliable and deadline-oriented

Job Duties

  • Prepare reports to be sent to clients and banks after completion of real estate transactions
  • Review legal documents and agreements
  • Prepare memorandums for reviewed documents
  • Prepare and manage documentation for residential and commercial real estate transactions
  • Communicate with clients to obtain necessary information for files
  • Draft routine correspondence and prepare drafts of real estate documents using precedents and forms
  • Manage files in the firm's legal software systems
  • Prepare closing documents, including Statements of Adjustment
  • Conduct due diligence
  • Note critical dates and deadlines
  • Conduct conflict checks and complete client intake information
  • Obtain government-issued identification from clients
  • Assist lawyers and law clerks with file preparation
  • Answer phone calls and direct messages appropriately
  • File necessary documents including GST/HST New Housing Rebate applications
  • Correspond with title insurance companies after closing
  • Follow up on undertakings given by lawyers after closing
