Department

Postdoctoral Research Associate in Anaerobic Molecular Microbiology required for maternity cover (on a 6 month fixed term contract) within the Centre of Excellence for Anaerobic Digestion (CEAD), Department of Biology.

Role

We are seeking a postdoctoral researcher with experience in anaerobic molecular microbiology to develop and commission a high-throughput pipeline for the isolation of microbes from anaerobic mixed microbial communities.

In addition, you should be willing to support the Director of CEAD by contributing to the day-to-day line management of technical staff and by providing advice and supervision to undergraduate and postgraduate students in CEAD.

This is a fixed-term contract for maternity cover for six months.

Skills, Experience & Qualification Needed

  • PhD (or equivalent) in Biological Sciences or a related discipline.
  • Experience of anaerobic microbiology and molecular biology methods.
  • A willingness to develop and trouble-shoot automated pipeline development.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to guide and supervise others.
