Role: QC Analyst – Microbiology

Role Overview

The QC Analyst is responsible for reviewing and approving microbiological test data before it is released to clients. The role ensures data accuracy, regulatory compliance, and scientifically sound interpretation of results for food and related samples.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review microbiological test results including colony counts, confirmation tests, and presence/absence assays
  • Ensure testing is performed as per approved SOPs, validated methods, and quality systems
  • Verify dilutions, incubation conditions, media performance, and method suitability
  • Interpret results against regulatory limits, client specifications, and internal criteria
  • Review atypical, borderline, OOS, OOT, and trend-based results using scientific judgement
  • Check calculations, units, and result statements for accuracy before report release
  • Review QC elements such as controls, blanks, sterility checks, and environmental monitoring data
  • Support investigations, root cause analysis (RCA), and CAPA activities
  • Act as a microbiology subject matter expert in internal and external discussions
  • Support special projects such as shelf-life studies and validation studies
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams

Qualifications & Experience

  • PhD in Microbiology/Molecular Biology/Biotechnology/Biochemistry, or related field
  • or
  • Master’s degree in Microbiology/Biotechnology/Biochemistry with 3+ years of relevant experience
  • Working knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025 and food microbiology regulations preferred
