Job Description
QA Engineer / SDET – Intelligent Warehouse Systems
Experience: 3–5 Years
About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and hands-on QA Engineer / SDET with strong exposure to warehouse and fulfillment systems. The ideal candidate should understand real-world warehouse operations and be capable of applying that knowledge to automation, regression testing, and validation of intelligent decision-driven systems.
The platform under test manages warehouse workflows, inventory movement, and autonomous operational decision-making. Since these systems directly impact physical warehouse operations, quality, reliability, and regression safety are mission-critical.
This role requires mandatory experience in warehouse systems, strong Python automation expertise, hands-on Playwright experience, and proven ownership of regression testing for complex operational workflows.
Key Responsibilities
1. Regression Testing Ownership
- Own and maintain end-to-end regression suites for warehouse-critical workflows.
- Identify and safeguard business-critical warehouse flows, including: Order lifecycle management
- Inventory state transitions
- Task creation, assignment, and completion
- Ensure regression coverage detects: Workflow failures
- Decision-logic side effects
- Downstream operational impacts
- Build and maintain stable, CI/CD-ready regression suites.
2. Warehouse Workflow Validation
- Validate real-world warehouse processes such as: Inbound → Putaway → Replenishment
- Picking → Packing → Shipping
- Returns and exception handling
- Verify accuracy of: Inventory movement
- Order and task state transitions
- Workflow sequencing
- Execute tests under realistic warehouse conditions, including: Order spikes and peak loads
- Partial task failures
- Capacity and resource constraints
3. Testing Agentic / Decision-Driven Systems
- Test intelligent systems that autonomously make and execute operational decisions, including: Order prioritization
- Task assignment and reassignment
- Inventory movement and dynamic re-planning
- Validate that system decisions: Respect warehouse constraints
- Remain consistent and predictable
- Recover safely from execution failures
- Design scenario-based test cases focused on: Decision changes
- State transitions
- Fallback and recovery behavior
- Treat decision-making logic as regression-critical functionality.
4. Python-Based Automation
- Develop scalable and maintainable automation frameworks using Python.
- Automate: Backend APIs
- Core warehouse workflows
- Decision-driven scenarios and regressions
- Build reusable utilities for: Test data setup
- State validation
- End-to-end scenario verification
- Convert high-impact manual test cases into long-term automated coverage.
5. UI Automation with Playwright
- Use Playwright to automate critical operational UI workflows, including: Order operations
- Inventory dashboards
- Warehouse control screens
- Include UI automation in regression suites for: High-risk operator actions
- Critical operational visibility
- Ensure UI reflects accurate backend and warehouse states.
- Develop stable, reliable, and non-flaky Playwright automation suites.
6. Integration & Data Validation
- Validate consistency across: UI
- APIs
- Database state
- Test asynchronous and event-driven system behavior.
- Investigate and debug issues using: Logs
- API traces
- SQL queries
- Report defects with clear warehouse and operational impact analysis.
Required Skills & Experience
Mandatory Skills
- 3–5 years of experience in QA / SDET roles
- Hands-on experience with warehouse systems such as WMS, WES, OMS, fulfillment, or logistics platforms
- Strong understanding of warehouse workflows and operational constraints
- Experience testing agentic or decision-driven systems where the platform: Autonomously selects actions
- Sequences tasks
- Adapts to changing operational conditions
- Strong hands-on programming experience in Python
- Solid experience with Playwright for UI automation
- Proven ownership of regression testing and automation strategy
- Strong analytical ability to reason about workflows, state transitions, and failure scenarios in warehouse environments
Good to Have
- Experience with distributed and event-driven systems
- Exposure to robotics, warehouse automation, or industrial systems
- Experience debugging multi-service production environments
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and modern automation practices
Preferred Candidate Profile
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
- Ability to work in fast-paced operational environments
- Strong ownership mindset and attention to detail
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills
- Passion for building reliable and scalable quality engineering practices
