In this role, you will:

  • Design, develop, and maintain high-quality, scalable, and resilient Java-based applications and services
  • Translate complex business and product requirements into robust, maintainable, and efficient backend solutions
  • Define and improve backend architecture, ensuring scalability, reliability, and high availability across distributed systems
  • Build reusable frameworks, libraries, and common services that improve engineering productivity and consistency
  • Collaborate closely with product managers, architects, frontend engineers, and cross-functional teams to deliver end-to-end solutions
  • Design and develop RESTful APIs and microservices following industry best practices
  • Ensure application performance, security, observability, and reliability in production environments
  • Conduct code reviews and uphold high standards for code quality, testing, documentation, and maintainability
  • Drive the adoption of modern engineering practices, including clean architecture, design patterns, and cloud-native development
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues, performance bottlenecks, and scalability challenges
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a collaborative, globally distributed engineering culture

Must Haves:

  • 10+ years of experience in Java backend or full-stack development with a strong backend focus
  • Extensive knowledge of Java (Java 11/17+), Spring Boot, Spring Framework, and related backend technologies
  • Strong understanding of object-oriented design principles, design patterns, and clean coding practices
  • Experience designing and building large-scale, distributed, high-performance applications
  • Hands-on experience with RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, and asynchronous event-driven systems
  • Experience with messaging technologies such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar platforms
  • Strong knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases, including data modelling and performance optimization
  • Experience working with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
  • Good understanding of CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and DevOps practices
  • Strong problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Bachelor's degree or Master's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or a related field

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Experience with distributed caching technologies such as Redis or Hazelcast
  • Familiarity with workflow orchestration and event streaming platforms
  • Experience with observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Splunk, or OpenTelemetry
  • Exposure to domain-driven design (DDD), CQRS, and Event Sourcing patterns
  • Experience building cloud-native applications using Kubernetes and service mesh technologies
  • Understanding of application security, authentication, and authorization frameworks (OAuth2, JWT, OpenID Connect)
  • Experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.)
  • Experience collaborating across multiple teams and geographies
