Core Responsibilities Lead Engineering & Platform Ownership

Lead a team of software and DevOps engineers building and operating real-time communication platforms. Own the technical direction, scalability, and reliability of customer-facing services. Global & Cross-Functional Collaboration

Serve as the primary owner for assigned platforms, driving alignment across Chennai and US teams on delivery and long-term technical direction.

Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to align on requirements, design decisions, and change management. Drive Delivery & Execution

Own end-to-end delivery, including planning, prioritization, and execution within Agile frameworks. Ensure predictable, high-quality releases with strong focus on performance, stability, and operational excellence. Provide Technical Leadership

Guide system design and architecture for distributed, microservices-based platforms. Review designs, challenge assumptions, and ensure solutions are resilient, scalable, and aligned with long-term platform goals. Run Production Systems with Accountability

Oversee production health, drive improvements in observability and reliability, and ensure timely resolution of issues. Establish strong engineering practices for operating real-time, high-availability systems. Build & Develop Talent

Hire, mentor, and develop engineers across experience levels. Foster a culture of ownership, continuous learning, and accountability. Drive Continuous Improvement

Promote DevSecOps practices, automation, and CI/CD adoption to improve engineering velocity, system quality, and operational efficiency. Leverage AI-assisted development and operational insights to enhance developer productivity, code quality, and system reliability.

Skills & Qualifications

Leadership & Communication

  • Proven ability to lead engineering teams and build strong cross-team partnerships
  • Effective stakeholder management and ability to influence decisions through technical and business alignment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences

Technical Expertise

  • Strong experience in system design, distributed systems, and microservices-based architectures
  • Experience building and operating scalable, resilient backend systems and APIs
  • Understanding of service communication, fault tolerance, observability, and performance optimization
  • Proficiency in any modern programming languages (e.g., Java, Go, Python etc.) is preferred

Platform Engineering & DevOps

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform,, Concourse)
  • Familiarity with cloud and infrastructure platforms (e.g.OpenStack )
  • Understanding of DevSecOps practices, system security, and access control

Execution & Operating Mindset

  • Strong problem-solving, prioritization, and organizational skills
  • Ability to operate in fast-paced environments and deliver iterative, high-quality outcomes
  • Focus on reliability, continuous improvement, and ownership of production systems

Domain Knowledge (Preferred, not mandatory)

  • Familiarity with real-time communication platforms and VoIP technologies
  • Understanding of SIP protocol, networking fundamentals (TCP/IP), and related systems

Responsibilities:

  • Leading and mentoring a team of engineers, fostering an inclusive culture that encourages innovation and continuous learning
  • Overseeing the planning and designing of software and web applications, including new programs, enhancements and modifications
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to define project requirements, set timelines, and maintain communication for efficient workflows
  • Managing software design and application updates, coordinating roll-outs and ensuring enhancements meet technical specifications
  • Implementing key performance indicators for development processes, advocating for best practices to improve efficiency and product quality
  • Managing deliverables across the team, ensuring adherence to deadlines, specifications, and budgets while mentoring staff for professional growth
  • Monitoring industry technological developments, evaluating external products, and ensuring the team's knowledge is up-to-date
  • Developing proposals, software changes, and managing capital expenditure projects to drive innovation and operational excellence
  • Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
  • Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) as necessary.
