Ready to scale your career at the intersection of law and innovation? Join Okta’s Public Sector and Regulated Offerings Legal Team. As Corporate Counsel, you won’t just be reviewing regulatory requirements—you’ll be a foundational builder of a scalable, global Public Sector practice.
In this role, you will provide frontline legal counseling for Okta’s most critical regulated environments, working both independently and alongside senior leadership to navigate the complexities of the U.S. government’s regulatory frameworks. You will partner with business and technology teams to guide the development and implementation of Okta’s Public Sector solutions. Our Public Sector legal team drives the legal strategy for introducing new products and features into regulated environments (e.g., FedRAMP, GovRAMP, DoD CC SRG).
In this role, you must use sharp critical thinking to provide pragmatic legal solutions that balance aggressive business objectives with necessary risk mitigation. Finally, you serve as a bridge between legal, engineering, compliance, security, and sales teams to ensure our products meet the rigorous standards of our public sector customers.

○ Federal Acquisition Regulation
○ Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement
- Identify problems and design effective, scalable solutions that help the business move faster.
- Thrive in a hybrid team setting, building strong relationships with internal partners to achieve strategic goals.
- Hands-on experience with or a strong understanding of AI platforms and tools to optimize internal legal workflows and.
The Role: Responsibilities
As Corporate Counsel, you will be part of the legal team that advises and guides Okta through complex regulatory frameworks and high-velocity product development.
- Provide end-to-end legal support for Okta’s Public Sector teams, focusing on Regulated Products and Services.
- Act as the subject matter expert on emerging cloud service policies, educating internal teams on shifting regulations.
- Partner with cross-functional legal counsel to ensure our products meet rigorous U.S. and international regulatory standards.
- Embed with Product, Engineering, Compliance, and Security teams to navigate, compliance frameworks and authorizations processes (e.g., FedRAMP) from conception to launch.
Qualifications
- Experience: 5–7+ years of legal practice, with at least 2 years focused on U.S. Public Sector and Regulated Products.
○ Military Judge Advocate and U.S. Federal Civilian service attorney advisor experience is a plus.
- Tech Fluency: Proven track record supporting IT products, and SaaS business models. ● Regulatory Depth: Working knowledge of U.S. Federal, state, and local regulations impacting tech.
- Education: J.D. from a highly-regarded institution and active Bar admission. An undergraduate degree in a technical field is a significant plus.
- Self-Starter: A “roll up your sleeves” mentality; you are comfortable independently navigating issues “of first impression.”
- Agility: The ability to maintain high standards and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

Below is the annual base salary range for candidates located in California (excluding San Francisco Bay Area), Colorado, Illinois, New York and Washington. Your actual base salary will depend on factors such as your skills, qualifications, experience, and work location. In addition, Okta offers equity (where applicable), bonus, and benefits, including health, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), flexible spending account, and paid leave (including PTO and parental leave) in accordance with our applicable plans and policies. The annual base salary range for this position for candidates located in California (excluding San Francisco Bay Area), Colorado, Illinois, New York, and Washington is between:
$180,000 — $248,000 USD
