We have an exciting opportunity for a Hospital Privileging Specialist to join our team. We are seeking someone with hands-on experience obtaining hospital privileges for physicians and advanced practice providers.

Responsibilities

The Privileging Specialist completes and processes hospital privilege applications and provides follow-up to ensure clinician is privileged to start on proposed target start date.

  • Process hospital privilege applications on behalf of new and existing clinicians as needed
  • Communicates on a regular basis with the medical staff offices to obtain status updates
  • Maintains and updates credentialing database with status and necessary data elements
  • Documents all tasks, phone calls, emails and other forms of communication during the credentialing process in the database
  • Conducts written and verbal follow up to determine application status
  • Escalates all issues to the appropriate members of management staff, region, and/or internal clinical onboarding team as necessary
  • Responds promptly to all questions, received via phone or email, regarding privileges
  • Communicates with all necessary internal departments as needed
  • Develops and maintains good relationships with medical staff offices
  • Participates in divisional huddle meetings
  • Completes other tasks or projects as assigned

Qualifications

Experience/Education:

Two (2) years related privileging experience in healthcare.

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Knowledge of Medical processes (credentialing and privileges)
  • Superior customer service skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Organization and the ability to multi-task
  • Diplomatic problem-solving skills
  • Strong Interpersonal skills
  • Ability to facilitate open dialogue to explore underlying problems
  • Ability to quickly change and adapt to new priorities
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Ability to work well under pressure, managing critical deadlines

Software:

Proficiency with Outlook, Word, Excel, Business Database
