Job Description:

Parsons is looking for a talented MOT Senior Engineer to join our team full-time to support one of the many large transformative transportation projects that we have either won, are currently pursuing, or will pursue across the nation.

Some of the larger projects are located in the states of:

• Tennessee

• Georgia

• North Carolina

• Virginia

• Indiana

In this role, you will help deliver the design for projects that have a construction value greater than $1 billion, and in turn assist in enhancing the mobility, safety, and reliability for communities who live along and travel through these critical corridors.

This position is remote, and the selected candidate will have flexibility in work location while still supporting virtual collaboration with Parsons teams.

Parsons is one of the premier design-build firms in the country with over 16,000 employees worldwide and nearly $7 Billion in revenue. Most recently, we have been the engineer of record or have assisted on some of the most challenging projects in the country, including:

  • the Gordie Howe Bridge near Detroit, MI
  • the Clear Path projects in Indianapolis, IN
  • Brent Spence project in Cincinnati, OH
  • the SR 400 project in Atlanta, GA

These high visibility Design-Build and Public Private Partnership "P3" projects and many others are career defining opportunities and offer complex, challenging work for our entire professional staff and new hires, who work seamlessly together from offices across the country.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead the development of complex Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) and construction staging plans for major highway and bridge projects
  • Develop comprehensive work zone strategies that balance safety, mobility, and constructability for multi-billion-dollar programs
  • Coordinate closely with roadway, structures, environmental, and construction teams to integrate MOT with overall project phasing
  • Perform and oversee work zone capacity and operational analyses, including queue and delay assessments for major stages and detours
  • Lead MOT components of design-build pursuits, including alternative technical concepts and innovation in traffic management
  • Provide technical reviews and quality control for MOT plans prepared by others and ensure conformance with applicable standards
  • Serve as a primary technical point of contact with clients and contractors regarding MOT design and implementation issues
  • Mentor and develop junior and mid-level MOT staff, providing technical guidance and training

What Required Skills You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent
  • 8 to 10 years of progressive experience in transportation engineering with an emphasis on Maintenance of Traffic design
  • Strong knowledge of MUTCD and multiple state DOT MOT standards and practices
  • Demonstrated experience leading MOT designs for complex freeway, interchange, or major bridge projects
  • Proficiency with CADD platforms used for MOT plan production and coordination
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license

What Desired Skills You’ll Bring

  • Experience leading MOT on large design-build or P3 projects exceeding $500M in construction value
  • Familiarity with advanced traffic analysis or simulation tools for evaluating work zone operations
  • Experience presenting MOT strategies to clients, stakeholders, and public agencies
  • Demonstrated experience training and mentoring MOT engineers and designers
