On following up: one message, five to seven working days after applying, addressed to a person if you can find one
Keep it to three sentences - which role, one line on why you fit it, and a direct question about timelines. Do not resend your whole cover letter. If there is no reply to the follow-up, move on and keep the role on a list to revisit in a quarter.
