Ghost postings are not a conspiracy theory anymore, and the numbers are worse than most people assume
A 2026 Clarify Capital survey of more than a thousand hiring managers found 68 percent of companies admit to keeping roles posted with no intention of filling them. Separate reporting this year put the share of job seekers who have hit an outdated or fake listing at close to eight in ten, with 42 percent of employers conceding the point.
You cannot reliably spot them from outside. What you can do is stop treating a silent application as feedback about you.
