Understand who you are talking to

An in-house recruiter works for one company and is measured on filling its roles. An agency recruiter works across many and is paid on placement.

Both can be genuinely helpful. But it changes what advice to weigh: an agency recruiter pushing for a fast decision may be responding to their own incentive rather than to the state of the process.
