Government E Marketplace Portal Operator

The Government E‑Marketplace Portal Operator manages daily operations of the GEM portal, ensuring smooth e‑procurement transactions for government agencies. This on‑site position supports users, monitors system performance, and collaborates with IT and project teams.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and maintain the GEM portal, handling user registrations, tender postings, and bid submissions.

• Monitor portal performance, resolve technical issues, and coordinate with IT Service Management teams.

• Generate and analyse reports using MS Excel to track procurement activity and compliance.

• Prepare documentation, guidelines, and communications in MS Word for internal and external stakeholders.

• Assist procurement officers with e‑procurement processes, ensuring adherence to government policies.

• Support project‑level initiatives related to portal enhancements and system upgrades.

• Provide timely, clear communication to users regarding portal updates, deadlines, and troubleshooting steps.

Required qualifications

• 1–2 years of experience operating the GEM portal or a similar e‑procurement platform.

• Proficiency in MS Excel (pivot tables, formulas) and MS Word (document formatting, templates).

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Understanding of e‑procurement workflows and government procurement regulations.

• Basic knowledge of IT Service Management (incident handling, ticketing systems).

• Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively in a team environment.

Nice to have

• Project management experience, preferably with Agile or PRINCE2 methodologies.

• Familiarity with ITIL service management processes.

• Experience in training or supporting end‑users on digital procurement tools.

• Certification in procurement or related fields (e.g., CIPS, PMP).
