You will oversee the accounting function in Frankfurt, maintain compliance with accounting and reporting requirements, collaborate with auditors and internal stakeholders, and drive the digitalization and standardization of accounting processes, particularly within SAP.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage, and develop an eight-person accounting team, providing both technical and disciplinary leadership.

  • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, fixed assets, and general ledger accounting.

  • Ensure the timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for German entities under HGB.

  • Contribute to reporting packages and consolidated financial statements under HGB and IFRS.

  • Ensure compliance with statutory accounting requirements and internal group accounting and reporting policies.

  • Serve as the primary accounting contact for external auditors and internal and external stakeholders.

  • Maintain and continuously improve the internal control system for accounting.

  • Standardize, optimize, and digitize accounting processes and systems, particularly within the SAP environment.

  • Advise operational departments on accounting treatments, financial reporting, and process-related matters.

  • Ensure efficient execution of accounting workflows, including invoice verification and posting.

  • Communicate complex accounting issues clearly and develop practical solutions.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Accounting, or a comparable discipline.

  • At least 10 years of relevant accounting experience, auditing experience, or experience in a comparable finance function.

  • At least 5 years of leadership experience, including responsibility for a team of three or more employees.

  • Strong knowledge of HGB and IFRS accounting and financial statement preparation.

  • Proven experience preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

  • Practical SAP FI/CO experience, ideally with SAP R/3 and readiness for the transition to SAP S/4HANA.

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

  • German proficiency at C2 level and English proficiency at C1 level.

  • Excellent numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Structured, independent, and detail-oriented working style.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and team development capabilities.

  • Confidence communicating with auditors, internal departments, and other stakeholders.

  • Hands-on approach and willingness to remain involved in operational accounting matters.

  • Interest in accounting process improvement and digitalization.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a Big Four accounting firm or a similar audit environment.

  • Experience working for an international organization or within a corporate group structure.

  • Familiarity with group reporting and consolidated financial statements.

  • Performance bonus: Approximately 20%.

  • Hybrid working: Two home-office days per week after the probationary period.

  • Additional benefits: Canteen subsidy and dedicated parking.

  • Leadership opportunity: Full technical and disciplinary responsibility for an eight-person accounting team.
