Role Overview

  • Job Type: Contract

  • Work Arrangement: Fully Remote, Global

  • Work Schedule: Approximately 15 hours per week, with flexible scheduling

  • Compensation: $50–$70 per hour

  • Engagement Type: Output-based, with payment for tasks meeting project specifications

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Rust Architect / Backend Developer to contribute to AI training projects involving production-grade Rust, backend architecture, asynchronous and concurrent systems, service design, infrastructure, and technical debugging.

You will solve and validate complex backend engineering problems, develop reproducible implementation and testing workflows, and assess whether software systems meet requirements for correctness, reliability, performance, scalability, and maintainability.

This is a hands-on, technically intensive role requiring strong Rust programming skills and sound architectural judgment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Solve and validate Rust backend problems involving APIs, service behavior, persistence, concurrency, performance, and reliability.

  • Translate functional requirements, performance targets, and failure-handling expectations into reproducible implementation and testing workflows.

  • Design and evaluate backend service architectures for correctness, scalability, maintainability, and production readiness.

  • Configure Rust crate workspaces, project dependencies, configuration files, and test fixtures.

  • Set up supporting databases, dependency services, and containerized development and testing environments.

  • Debug complex backend issues and validate implementations against defined technical specifications.

  • Assess system behavior under concurrency, performance constraints, and failure scenarios.

  • Produce reliable, well-structured technical solutions that satisfy project requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong practical proficiency in Rust through professional, research, or substantial open-source development experience.

  • Deep understanding of backend service design, APIs, data systems, concurrency, and production software architecture.

  • Experience analyzing and solving complex backend engineering problems.

  • Ability to assess software correctness, performance, scalability, and reliability.

  • Experience developing reproducible implementation and testing workflows.

  • Strong debugging, analytical reasoning, and technical problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work independently and deliver high-quality technical outputs against defined specifications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ownership of Rust architecture and backend system design.

  • Experience with asynchronous programming, concurrent systems, and production Rust services.

  • Familiarity with databases, containerized environments, dependency services, and backend infrastructure.

  • Experience with DevOps practices and automated testing workflows.

  • Significant professional or open-source contributions involving complex backend systems.

Compensation and Work Schedule

  • Hourly rate: $50–$70.

  • Workload: Approximately 15 hours per week.

  • Schedule: Flexible working hours and days, including weekends if preferred, provided agreed activity requirements are met.

  • Payment structure: Output-based compensation for tasks that meet project specifications.

  • Submission requirements: Minimum weekly task submissions apply.

Selection Process

  1. Submit an application and complete the screening questions.

  2. Complete an AI interview of approximately 30 minutes.

  3. Participate in a hiring manager review.

Start Timeline

Candidates should be available to begin promptly. Selected candidates are expected to start their first tasks within 24–48 hours after completing onboarding.
