About the Role

We are seeking PhD-level biology, bioinformatics, and computational biology experts to contribute advanced scientific expertise to the development and evaluation of next-generation AI systems.

You will apply your experience working with real biological data to design and assess complex scientific workflows, evaluate computational pipelines, analyze biological datasets, and provide expert feedback that helps AI systems reason more accurately about biology and biomedical research.

This opportunity welcomes specialists across genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, structural biology, molecular and cell biology, systems biology, computational pharmacology, and quantitative biology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, evaluate, and critique biology, bioinformatics, and computational biology workflows for AI benchmarking initiatives.

  • Provide expert analysis of genomic, transcriptomic, proteomic, and other biological data-processing pipelines.

  • Assess and optimize pipeline parameters, software configurations, and statistical approaches for accuracy, reproducibility, and scientific validity.

  • Analyze biological datasets, including next-generation sequencing (NGS), RNA sequencing, single-cell data, variant calling results, and protein structure data.

  • Identify methodological issues, inconsistencies, or opportunities for improvement in biological analyses.

  • Provide actionable scientific recommendations based on quantitative and analytical findings.

  • Apply domain expertise to support the development and validation of biology-focused AI models and tools.

  • Communicate complex biological and computational concepts clearly to technical and non-technical collaborators.

  • Document findings, methodologies, workflows, and best practices to support knowledge transfer and reproducibility.

Areas of Expertise

Applicants with deep expertise in at least one of the following areas are encouraged to apply:

  • Genomics and NGS analysis

  • Transcriptomics and single-cell analysis

  • Proteomics and structural biology

  • Molecular and cell biology

  • Systems biology and biological network analysis

  • Drug discovery and computational pharmacology

  • Biostatistics and machine learning applied to biology

Required Qualifications

  • PhD in Biology, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Genomics, or a closely related STEM discipline, or equivalent industry/research experience.

  • Professional written and spoken English at C1 level or higher.

  • Deep expertise in at least one relevant biological or computational specialization.

  • Hands-on experience analyzing real biological datasets.

  • Proficiency in Python and/or R for scientific analysis.

  • Experience with relevant tools used within your area of expertise, such as BLAST, samtools, GATK, Bioconductor, or Biopython.

  • Strong statistical, quantitative, and analytical reasoning skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly document and explain technical concepts.

  • Demonstrated ability to conduct rigorous scientific problem-solving in complex biological domains.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience developing reproducible scientific workflows using tools such as Nextflow or Snakemake.

  • Experience working in Linux and command-line environments.

  • Experience with AI/ML-assisted biology workflows or scientific benchmarking.

  • Peer-reviewed publications, patents, or contributions to open-source bioinformatics software.

Position Details

  • Role type: Independent contractor

  • Work arrangement: Fully remote

  • Location: Worldwide

  • Openings: 50

  • Compensation: $45–$90 per hour

  • Primary disciplines: Biology, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Genomics, Proteomics, Systems Biology, and related fields

Who Should Apply?

This opportunity is suited to advanced biology and bioinformatics professionals who combine deep domain expertise with strong computational, quantitative, and scientific reasoning skills. It is particularly relevant for researchers and industry specialists experienced in analyzing biological data, developing reproducible computational workflows, and evaluating complex scientific methods.

If you can translate sophisticated biological and computational concepts into clear, rigorous analysis and feedback, your expertise can help shape more capable and scientifically reliable AI systems.
