Job Description
This position is based in India and will support global Investment Technology initiatives. The candidate will primarily support the Alternatives business and work closely with investment, operations, product, data, and technology teams.
Who We Are Looking For
State Street Investment Management is seeking a highly motivated Senior Technical Business Analyst with strong business analysis, data analysis, and technology delivery skills . The candidate will work closely with business and technology teams to translate requirements into effective solutions, improve processes, and support strategic initiatives across the investment platform landscape.
The role requires hands-on experience gathering requirements, analyzing business processes and data, defining functional solutions, supporting integrations, and delivering reporting improvements. The candidate must be comfortable working with large datasets and investigating data-quality and reconciliation issues.
Strong SQL skills and practical programming knowledge in at least one language are required. Python is strongly preferred for data analysis, automation, and reporting. The candidate should also understand enterprise data warehouses, relational database management systems, stored procedures, ETL processes, APIs, and reporting platforms.

What You Will Be Responsible For
- Gather, analyze, validate, and document business requirements from investment, operations, product, and technology stakeholders.
- Translate requirements into functional specifications, user stories, process flows, data mappings, business rules, and acceptance criteria.
- Partner with business and technology teams to deliver system enhancements, integrations, reporting solutions, and process improvements.
- Perform data analysis, reconciliations, and root-cause analysis to support business initiatives and issue resolution.
- Support data-quality activities through validation, exception management, remediation, and control design.
- Define and validate ETL requirements, source-to-target mappings, file interfaces, APIs, and reporting specifications.
- Support the design and delivery of reports, dashboards, and analytical solutions using SQL, Python, Power BI, Tableau, or similar technologies.
- Participate in testing, implementation, release validation, and post-production support activities.
- Work with internal teams and vendors on platform enhancements, upgrades, issue resolution, and user adoption.
Required Skills and Experience

- Strong experience as a Business Analyst, Technical Business Analyst, or Business Systems Analyst within financial services.
- Excellent requirements gathering, process analysis, documentation, solution definition, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly with global business users, product teams, technology teams, and vendors.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently with limited supervision.
Data Analysis Competencies
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to work with complex investment and operational data.
- Experience working with large and complex datasets to identify trends, data anomalies, operational issues, and process improvement opportunities.
- Hands-on experience with data analysis, reconciliations, data validation, root-cause analysis, and data-quality assessments.
- Ability to trace data across operational systems, ETL processes, databases, data warehouses, and reporting layers.
Technical Skills
- Advanced SQL skills, including complex queries, joins, views, functions, stored procedures, and query optimization.
- Strong understanding of relational database management systems, database structures, data models, and enterprise data warehouses.
- Programming knowledge in at least one language is required. Python is preferred for data analysis, automation, and reporting.
- Experience with ETL processes, REST APIs, file-based integrations, data mapping, and validation controls.
- Experience with reporting and dashboard tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar technologies.
Domain and Platform Knowledge
The primary domain focus is Alternative Investments, including Private Equity, Private Credit, Real Estate, Infrastructure, Real Assets, Hedge Funds, and Fund-of-Funds. Knowledge of investment operations, transaction processing, portfolio accounting, performance measurement, exposure analytics, and investment reporting is preferred.
Exposure to multi-asset class investment products, including Equities, Fixed Income, Mutual Funds, ETFs, derivatives, and cash, is beneficial and may support future assignments based on business priorities.
Experience with eFront products such as FrontInvest and Insight is preferred. Familiarity with Vidrio, Burgiss, Argus, Dynamo, PFaroe, Aladdin, Qube, or comparable investment platforms is an advantage.
Education and Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree is required. Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or Information Technology is preferred.
- 5+ years of relevant experience in business analysis, data analysis, investment technology, asset management, or financial services.
- Experience supporting global business users and cross-functional technology teams.
- Experience with Alternatives platforms, enterprise data warehouses, and investment reporting solutions is preferred.
- Workstream leadership, mentoring, or project coordination experience is beneficial for this level.

They will effectively partner with business and technology teams, translate complex requirements into practical solutions, analyze data and processes, and help drive successful delivery of investment technology initiatives.
