Who We Are Looking For

Charles River Development is looking for an experienced Azure Infrastructure, Network, DevOps & Infrastructure as Code Engineer to join the Cloud Platform Engineering team. In this role, you will design, build, automate, and operate secure enterprise-scale Azure infrastructure and networking platforms. You will help modernize cloud delivery through DevOps practices, reusable IaC modules, automation, and strong operational engineering discipline.

Why This Role Is Important to Us

The team you will be joining is part of Charles River Development (CRD), which became part of State Street in 2018. CRD develops enterprise investment management software solutions for leading global financial institutions across institutional investment, wealth management, and hedge funds. Together, we created the industry's first open front-to-back platform, State Street Alpha, launched in 2019.

What You Will Be Responsible For

  • Design, deploy, and support enterprise Azure infrastructure across multiple subscriptions, landing zones, and environments.
  • Build and maintain secure Azure networking solutions, including virtual networks, hub-and-spoke architectures, ExpressRoute, VPN Gateway, Azure Firewall, NSGs, routing, DNS, Private Endpoints, Application Gateway, and load balancing.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve Infrastructure as Code solutions using Terraform, Bicep, ARM Templates.
  • Create reusable IaC modules, deployment patterns, and platform standards that improve consistency, security, and developer experience.
  • Build and support CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, Git, YAML pipelines, approvals, variable groups, service connections, and deployment automation.
  • Automate operational tasks, infrastructure provisioning, validation, troubleshooting, and reporting using PowerShell, Python, Azure CLI, and REST APIs.
  • Support and improve AKS and container platform capabilities, including networking, ingress, identity integration, monitoring, and secure deployment patterns.
  • Troubleshoot complex infrastructure, network connectivity, deployment pipeline, identity, DNS, and performance issues across Azure IaaS and PaaS services.
  • Create and maintain technical architecture diagrams, design documents, operational runbooks, engineering standards, and knowledge-sharing material.
  • Collaborate with application, security, operations, and architecture teams to deliver scalable, reliable, secure, and automated cloud platform capabilities.
  • Balance pragmatism with long-term platform vision by continuously improving infrastructure reliability, automation, security posture, and operational processes.

What We Value

  • Strong hands-on experience designing, implementing, and supporting Azure infrastructure in enterprise environments.
  • Deep understanding of Azure networking concepts such as routing, DNS, firewalls, private connectivity, segmentation, NSGs, load balancing, and hybrid connectivity.
  • Experience codifying cloud platform provisioning using Terraform, Bicep, ARM Templates, Ansible, or equivalent automation tooling.
  • Strong DevOps experience with Azure DevOps, Git workflows, CI/CD design, release automation, environment controls, and deployment governance.
  • Hands-on scripting and automation experience with PowerShell, Python, Azure CLI, and API-based automation.
  • Experience supporting Azure platform services such as Virtual Machines, Virtual Networks, Storage Accounts, Key Vault, AKS, App Services, API Management, Azure SQL, and Log Analytics.
  • Understanding of identity, access, and platform security concepts including RBAC, Managed Identity, service principals, network isolation, Conditional Access, and least privilege.
  • Experience supporting Windows and Linux-based infrastructure and troubleshooting operating system, platform, and network-level issues.
  • Experience implementing secure deployment and operational practices in regulated, audit-focused, or enterprise-scale environments.
  • Ability to assist, contribute, and lead when required with prototyping new platform capabilities, network patterns, automation frameworks, and DevOps improvements.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, oral communication, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with technical staff across multiple systems, disciplines, time zones, and organizational boundaries.

Education & Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
  • 10+ years of Azure platform engineering / cloud infrastructure experience
  • Azure certifications such as Azure Administrator Associate, Azure Network Engineer Associate, Azure DevOps Engineer Expert, Azure Solutions Architect Expert are preferred.
  • CCNA / CCNP as good-to-have
  • Hands-on experience delivering large-scale Azure infrastructure deployments, cloud networking, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/Bicep), and automated platform provisioning across enterprise environments.
  • Experience with financial services, regulated environments, change management, security audit processes, or large-scale enterprise cloud platforms is a plus.
