Job Description
- Manage the configuration of the build infrastructure (Windows and Linux) • Improve reliability and performance of test and build processes • Design and maintain automated release channels • Proactively look for ways to automate the installation and upkeep of build tools and dependencies • Review and recommend solutions and tools to improve the software development process • Own the process for releasing builds into QA and up to production • Managing pre/post release code merges • Managing the code branching strategies • Building the bridge between Engineering (dev & QA) and IT Operations • Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines; Automate software deployment processes; Monitor system performance and implement optimizations; Collaborate with development and operations teams to ensure smooth software delivery; Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to deployments; Implement best practices for infrastructure as code; Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies; Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
Duties & Responsibilities
Cloud Infrastructure Design & Architecture
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable, highly available, and secure cloud infrastructure solutions within Microsoft Azure.
- Participate in solution architecture discussions and contribute to infrastructure design decisions for new and existing platforms.
- Develop and maintain architecture standards, best practices, and operational guidelines.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend improvements to the cloud platform.
- Create and maintain architecture diagrams, deployment models, and technical designs.
Infrastructure as Code & Automation
- Design and implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform.
- Develop and maintain configuration management solutions using Ansible.
- Create automation scripts and tooling using Python, PowerShell, and Bash.
- Drive automation initiatives to improve deployment efficiency, consistency, and operational reliability.
- Build reusable infrastructure modules and automation frameworks.
Azure Platform Engineering
- Deploy, manage, and optimize Azure services including Virtual Machines, Virtual Networks, Azure Storage, Azure Load Balancers, Azure Application Gateway, Azure Monitor, Azure Key Vault, Azure App Services, and Azure Entra ID.
- Support cloud modernization initiatives and application migrations to Azure.
- Manage Azure resource provisioning, networking, access management, and platform governance.
- Optimize cloud resource utilization, availability, performance, and cost.
Kubernetes & Container Platform Management
- Design, deploy, and support containerized workloads using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Manage and optimize Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) environments.
- Implement Kubernetes best practices for scalability, availability, networking, and security.
- Support container platform upgrades, maintenance, and troubleshooting activities.
- Configure ingress controllers, service networking, secrets management, and container security controls.
CI/CD & DevOps Enablement
- Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitHub, and GitHub Actions.
- Automate application deployment, testing, and release processes.
- Implement deployment strategies including blue-green deployments, rolling updates, and automated rollback mechanisms.
- Collaborate with development teams to improve software delivery practices and deployment automation.
- Support Git branching strategies, release management, and source control best practices.
Monitoring, Reliability & Incident Management
- Implement and maintain monitoring, logging, and observability solutions using Azure Monitor, Grafana, Datadog, Splunk, and Log Analytics.
- Monitor platform health, performance, and availability across cloud environments.
- Lead troubleshooting efforts, root cause analysis, and incident resolution activities.
- Identify and implement improvements to increase platform reliability and operational efficiency.
- Develop dashboards, alerts, and operational metrics to proactively identify issues.
Performance Optimization & Capacity Planning
- Perform infrastructure performance assessments and capacity planning activities.
- Analyze system utilization and recommend scaling strategies.
- Optimize cloud resource consumption and infrastructure performance.
- Identify opportunities to improve platform resilience, scalability, and efficiency.
Collaboration & Technical Leadership
- Partner with software engineering teams to ensure infrastructure requirements are incorporated into application design and development.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and team members.
- Participate in architecture reviews, design discussions, and technical planning sessions.
- Promote DevOps culture, automation, and operational excellence across teams.
- Lead infrastructure improvement initiatives and contribute to strategic technology roadmaps.
Documentation & Knowledge Sharing
- Maintain infrastructure documentation, architecture diagrams, deployment procedures, operational runbooks, and support documentation.
- Contribute to knowledge-sharing initiatives and technical training within the organization.
- Ensure operational processes and platform standards are well documented and maintained.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- Equivalent professional experience will be considered.
Experience
- 8+ years of experience in DevOps Engineering, Cloud Engineering, Platform Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, or Site Reliability Engineering.
- Experience supporting and designing enterprise-scale cloud environments.
- Proven experience working in Agile and DevOps-driven environments.
Technical Skills
Microsoft Azure
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure cloud services.
- Experience with Azure Virtual Machines, Azure Virtual Networks, Azure Storage Accounts, Azure Load Balancers, Azure Application Gateway, Azure Key Vault, Azure Monitor, Azure Log Analytics, Azure App Services, Azure Entra ID, and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
