The Technical Architect - DevOps is responsible for advising, designing, and managing deployment orchestration solutions for complex Salesforce implementations. This role requires close collaboration with Delivery Managers, Technical Architects, Solution Architects, and Account Teams, as well as direct client engagement to architect DevOps solutions tailored to their needs.
The Technical Architect - DevOps ensures solutions align with industry best practices to drive long-term customer success. This hands-on role involves architectural work and, when necessary, deployment execution. You are both a big-picture thinker and an in-depth problem solver, with broad and deep technical expertise. You take pride in designing resilient systems that withstand high volumes and critical demands while balancing technical and enterprise-level considerations.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with client stakeholders to define requirements, deliverables, and manage expectations.
- Assess existing DevOps processes, tools, and practices, recommending improvements.
- Design, present, and implement best-fit DevOps solutions, considering customer needs, tool preferences, and commercial constraints.
- Drive the selection and implementation of DevOps tools and technologies.
- Lead DevOps design sessions, architect solutions, and document best practices.
- Develop and enforce DevOps frameworks and governance models for consistency across deployments.
- Provide oversight and governance of Salesforce projects.
- Ensure successful continuous delivery deployments across environments.
- Support pre-sales activities, including discovery sessions, technical deep dives, and proof-of-concept (PoC) development.
- Collaborate with Salesforce product teams to support client implementations.
- Travel to client sites as needed (estimated 50-75%).
Requirements (Technical Skillset)
- 10+ years of CRM experience, with at least 8 years on the Salesforce platform.
- Expert knowledge of the Salesforce product suite, including Sales, Service, Experience, Industries (Vlocity), and Data Cloud.
- Strong understanding of environment management, release management, version control best practices, and deployment methodologies.
- Understanding of branching strategies such as Git Flow, Trunk-based development, Feature branching
- Salesforce Development Lifecycle – Metadata API, SFDX (Salesforce DX), Salesforce CLI, Apex, SOQL, Lightning Web Components (LWC).
- Salesforce Release & Deployment Strategies – Sandbox management, Source-driven development, Change sets, Unlocked & Managed Packages.
- Experience with CI/CD tools: Copado, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitLab, CircleCI.
- Experience with Version Control Systems - Git, GitHub, Bitbucket, GitLab, Azure Repos.
- Strong grasp of software configuration management (Chef) and release management.
- Experience with Docker image building, orchestration, and pipelines.
- Experience with test automation (Provar, TOSCA, TestNG, Selenium, WebDriver, JUnit, JMeter, ApexUnit).
- Experience managing code quality tools (e.g., SonarQube, Checkmarx, PMD).
- Understanding of Performance Monitoring – Salesforce Event Monitoring, CloudWatch, Azure Monitor.
- Experience with security integration into CI/CD pipelines.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Technology, or equivalent experience.
- Salesforce certifications (active or ability to obtain upon hire).
- Experience is evaluated based on core proficiencies, including leadership roles, military experience, volunteer work, and professional background.
